How useful is your piggy bank?

I always have a piggy bank at home where I drop the coins when I get home from work. My piggy bank is very useful when I don't have loose change. It is very handy when you need to buy something and you don't have change on hand. Once I was about to pay my electric bill when I was short of around two hundred pesos and I opened my piggy bank and counted the coins there. It helped me avoid being delivered a notice of disconnection. Sometimes, I don't have enough money to buy something and my piggy bank is right there waiting to be opened. That is why I always make sure I drop coins everyday in my piggy bank.

I think you just gave me an idea of what I should buy my neice as a gift. I have a can that I'm starting to save coins in. Usually the new coins are coins that I find thta my hubby has, b/c I don't use cash anymore really. I'm going to cash it in towards the end of December, and just put the money into my account probably. I don't know how much is in it, but I don't expect it to be too much.

i dont have a piggy bank but i do save the coins in a box and it now must be weighing about 5 kilograms. i retrieve some coins from it when i need to buy something small that doesn't cost too much. comes in really handy when i need a change.

I put all my change in a jug, then when it gets full, or close to it, I roll up the change and deposit it in my bank account. Not long ago I did that and had almost $300. It is nice because you don't miss the coins when you put them in, but they really add up. My son also has a piggy bank that I put change into. When it gets full I do the same thing- deposit the money into an account for him.

My two kids have piggy banks. Their grandma give them some coins every week and sometimes I put some, too. It's in general accord that piggies are to be open at christmas week, for them to buy a present each other.

Good idea for young children as they will learn the value of saving.

Hello, Masmasika. Piggy banks are really useful. You store the coins in there, and when you take it off it seems like you have a good amount of money already! It seems like you earned extra money, doesn't it? But, in fact, you did not. It was always your money, you just saved it. Unfortunately, I do not have a piggy bank. Guess I should get one and start putting some coins everyday. I think I will start doing it, and, on February, I will withdraw the money. I have some months to store money, eh? Respectfully, Munhozmib.

My piggy bank is very useful especially during emergency situations. Like what happened a year ago, when I really had no cash left in my purse, only my debit cards. That's when the cable company's collector came for our monthly payment. I was surprised to find out that the collection of coins and small bills amounted to more than what I needed to pay for our bill.Small amounts goes a really long way. And aside from that piggy bank, my mother bought my son his own piggy bank. And it's really huge!I wonder though if by the time if fills up, my son is already a grown man.

I had my first piggy bank when I was a child and I still do now that I'm in my early 20's. Is a good practice to have piggy bank in a young age. I found it very useful for me. I would use my savings in my piggy bank rather withdraw money on my bank savings.

I have a spare change jar where I toss in coins also. Once filled though, I take it to the bank and deposit it into my children's savings accounts. This way, they will have a bit of money saved up for when they get older and start to learn how to handle the finances. It's great for emergency use as well.

It is very useful in a way that it helps me save up for emergency use. There are times when the money I receive really is not enough and when that happens I could always trust my coin bank to have something inside.

That is great, using your savings from a piggy bank in case of money shortage.Well I do have my piggy bank too. Actually I started putting coins on it since I started studying in college. I am so happy that I found out last April that it was full and actually I used it to treat my parents after my graduation.

I put my loose change in my diet coke bank all the time then we it starts getting full I take it to the bank and get bills for it. Or if I am short of money I will cash it in. Change really adds up fast I can't beleive how much is actually there sometimes.

I am not really keeping a piggy bank religiously but I do have a canister where I am putting the coins I got after emptying my pockets. I keep them stored in my canister until such time I ran out of money. This habit saved me from unwanted debts many times already.

In my childhood i never had a piggy bank and don`t have one till today. However i have a small purse in which all loose change is kept and other small purses in which notes of small, medium and large denominations are kept. This helps when i need money of the required amounts.

I dont see the point of a piggy bank. i would rather use a proper bank where money is less likely to get stolen
