Do people in your city/town/village etc do people put christmas lights on there own houses? We have a house in our town that covers its house in christmas lights and puts a collection pot out to collect money for charity. The house looks really beautiful and christmasy, they put a lot of time and effort into putting the lights up.

Yes, we do a lot of that around here and I love to see all the colorful and pretty displays! We only did it once, ourselves however, and our dog at the time pulled down our lights and we've never done it again! But I do love to see them.

There is a house across from my apartment complex that goes all out during Christmas. It's like a village all unto itself. Lights decorate their house, their gate, the trees...They put in a Santa with reindeer, a manger with Mary and Joseph, it is quite amazing.

Yes, we have many homes in the city where I live who decorate the outside of their homes and their yard also. There are even whole streets who get together and all the homes decorate outside. Hope I can get into town some night and get some pictures of the pretty yards or maybe I can find some out here in my area.

I live in the country, so there are not a lot of houses around me. While driving into town I see several houses with lights up. My son likes to go driving around at night and looking at the Christmas lights.

I like to put up a lot of outside decorations and lights but not too many. There is a house not far from me and they decorate it all from head to toe. It is beautiful and people for miles come and see it. They do a collection to for charity but the way the electricity prices are rising they might have to do a seperate collection to pay for all the energy to power those lights. I think it is beautiful though. I like to drive around different areas with the children at Christmas to see everyones gardens that are decorated.

There is an entire neighborhood in our town that puts up lights and decorations. They even have a Santa that gives the kiddos a candy cane. They collect donations of food and money for families in the area that need help. It's really a beautiful thing they are doing. The houses look like a wonderland as well. It's nice to see other areas that have the giving spirit as well. Great post.

Yes, there are houses in my neighborhood that put up Christmas lights. But I have noticed not many are out this time of year. Most times I can drive around after church to take my kids to see the lights. I am not seeing as many this year. I fear the economy is stopping people from having lights out. For fear of electric bills getting to high and they can't pay. besides the fact we have criminals coming in and stealing Christmas stuff from yards.

There is a street in town that way decorates every year, well, half the stree does... Brings major conjestion to it, but while some of the neighbors object, the ones that do it like the attention.

Not in singapore.. Because we have flats instead of house.. Our house are being built upwards and not spread out like each individual house.. hehe ^_^ SO even if we want to do so, we can light up the door to the windows of our house.. lol =D Because only that side is facing the main road, and ple can see it.. hehe ON top of that, though we have ple celebrating christmas, but it's only in the form of going for countdown parties, but not decorating the house or eating turkey.. hehe

We love driving around after dark looking at decorated houses. There's one kitty korner from me that has a very elegant display. No lights per say, but there are wreaths and garland with a big spot light on the big wreath on the front of the house. It just looks very classy and I really like it a lot.

Yes they do and they are beautiful to look at. I like the lights that city hall puts up they have this large building with many windows in it and each window have one candle light clear bulb in it. And the city always put up in this field and people from miles away comes to view it. A lay out of the baby Jesus laying in the manger with the 3 wisemen, a star and animal grazing. It is lighted at night. If I think about it I will take a picture of it and post it on the site.

Hi anne! We have some people who put up their own Christmas decorations on their houses. They do look very nice. I live in a garden apartment development and it is up to the people who live in the apartments to decide if they want to decorate the outside of the buildings. The buildings have 4 apartments per door in the front of the building and are attached completely in the back. So if anyone of the 4 apartment tenants want to decorate the front of their door they can. I only decorate my window. My girlfriend across the street decorates the front door and the bushes in front of the house. It really looks so nice and Christmasy. I can see it from my windows.

A lot of people decorte their homes where I live also. There is one not too far from where I live (atleast they did 4 years ago) that put up thousands of lights and spend hundreds of dollars for electric for them. They would also put out donation cans to help them pay for the display. It was so beautiful. It was so big that it would take a couple hours to see everything.

Where i stay people don't lights on their houses on Christmas day but only on Diwali. Because Diwali is a Hindu culture and this day is the day of Light celebration and also when they have marriage. Then you'll see people putting lights on their houses. For them that's a great thing to put light because the light itself is a symbol in their religion. So this plays a great role in their life. There would be no other occasions that you'll see light on their houses.
