Okay, let's play courtroom for a sec... You're on the stand... You: He never hit me. Question: Well, is this you in these pictures? You: Yes, it's me. Question: What happened to your lip? You: I guess I fell. Question: You fell? How? You: I...um...slipped off a ladder...um...and cut my lip. Question: Now in filing charges, you stated your boyfriend busted your lip, didn't you? You: Yes. Question: Why then, would you change your story? You: Because I'm weak and scared. Stop being weak, and stand up for yourself! If you're not gonna respect yourself, no one else will. It's a lesson in life many people never learn. Don't go down that road, it just leads to living life as a victim.

If you already dropped the charges, you shoudl not have a court date. You need to make sure that the charges have been fully dropped. If you do go to court, don't lie. You will be thrown in jail for purgery. If he did really hit you (not an accident) then you shoudl leave you boyfriend. The violence will only get worse.

It is a crime in most jurisdictions to file a false police report. However, if you decide to drop the charges, that is a different situation. You'd most likely be better off saying that you don't want to press charges, rather than saying it didn't happen.

Yes, filing a false report is against the law. However, there is a bigger picture to look at. You are in an abusive relationship. He should not have busted your lip. If you stay in this relationship it can get worse. Next time you might have a bone broken or wind up in a coma. A lot of the domestic violence laws are set up where if the Police see physical evidence of assault (fat lip, bruises, or blood) they can arrest the perpetrator and charge him/her with domestic violence. You need to get out of this situation and fast. Go press those charges. TODAY!!!!
