My gardens have been destroyed

I have two Rottie puppies male and female, ages 7 month and 5 months. Like all other pups, they are quite active and require a lot of attention. My problem is that they are tearing up my gardens. The female especially loves to pull the small plants up and rip them to shreds. I've already removed most of the grass in the backyard (which is rather small) and had it filled with concrete, so basically I have a concrete patio with a few garden patches throughout. I've tried my best with them, to no avail. The female especially loves to rip the fronds off the palm trees. Any suggestions as to how I can eliminate this behavior? Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

shout them in action. If they do stop, praise them. this is the only way to eliminate the bad behavior.

Hi Di1159, I have a four month old puppy and he not only loves to eat and dig out the plants in the garden but tries to do the same with my large indoor plants also. I don't know why he does it. With the indoor one I am to hand at all times and the minute he goes to take a bite from a leaf or to dig in the pot I will tap him on the nose with a rolled up newspaper and say LEAVE IT and he knows now not too. In the garden I will shout OFF repeatedly but he chooses to ignore me a lot of the time so I am in a similar position to you there, but it is all to do wih repetition and being on hand to say LEAVE IT or OFF each time. I wish you luck on this one. I am making progress but it is slow progress, the minute my back is tired he is up on the plants again. Huggles. Ellie :D

Thanks Ellie for letting me know I'm not alone! I've been doing the LEAVE IT and they know cause as soon they hear my voice they run and then come and lie innocently at my feet. They really know how to soften me up! I guess I will just continue to pray for patience and keep on trying. Thanks!
