Uhh, aren't the male nuns called monks? Just asking.

Because if they are, then they exist and it's not forbidden.

Yep they are caled monks or brothers. They are the mail equvalent of nuns. In my religion (christian orthodox) there are probably as many monks as nuns. They have the same roles and duties as nuns.
