Sodium Laureth Sulfate SLS** CLEAR** **FRUCTIS** ** VO5** **PAUL MITCHELL ** L'OREAL** ** BODY SHOP ** All these shampoos uase a chemical called SLS which is actually a floor cleaner. They are used so as to produce more foam. Imagine what a floor cleaner do to you hair & Scalp. It will damage the vary roots of your scalp. Check for SLS in toothpaste too !! Use the ones which are free from this extremely harmful chemicals. Just type ""SLS Free Shampoo"" or ""SLS Free Toothpaste"" in google to get the list of companies selling Safe products. Pls tell ur near & dear on this.

My hairdresser told me never to use Pantene either, that it is terrible for your hair. She said they put a spot on a wood floor and it took the wax off and left a big bleached out white spot.

pantene contains a lot of plastics. this coats the hair, and makes it look "shiny" a good shampoo will make your hair shiny. not just coat it with something shiny.

SLS is not specifically a floor cleaner. it is used as a floor cleaner. this is because it is what is known as a detergent. something that breaks down grease, and therefore cleans stuff. it's used in cosmetics as a foaming agent, to create foam as you wash, and to actually clean you. obviously, it's used in very different concentrations in shampoo and other cosmetics than it is when used as a floor cleaner. all detergents, in breaking down grease, have a drying effect on the skin, and in cosmetics this is usually balanced out by moisturising ingredients. for most people, this causes no problems whatsoever. some people are sensitive to specific foaming agents, and drier or more sensitive skin is more likely to not get on with it. this doesn't mean that it's a bad or harmful ingredient. the levels in cosmetics are safe for their intended use. just because it is used neat as a floor cleaner does not mean that using something with smaller quantities in it will be like putting floor cleaner on your head. using that same logic, using water is harmful, as it's also used as a floor cleaner. so a product is not unsafe for containing it. some people are sensitive to it, but most people can use it every single day of their lives with no ill effect.
