Why people don't check ?

Why people don't check before starting a discussion, if the discussion they want to start isn't already started by somebody else?
It happend to me twice since my first day of activity on mylot.com to see that, users who obviously did spent more time as me on this site (with higher postings as myself) to create topics already started by me, whitout checking first?
To better see what i am talking about just type "vatican forgives" or "michael jackson" in the dialog box and you will see.
I am not crying because i want a punishment of the ones in charge, I am curios why this things are happening, and why are they tolerated? Does this kind of activity harm mylot.com ? Why aren't we starting then the subjects that got let's say 1 year ago the most attention?
Before joining i did read carefuly the guidelines and the FAQs and always take into consideration what the elders from mylot.
I am not mad about this just a bit dissapointed.

hello,
i would like to open a discussion about the fact that people here in mylot don't check, before open a discussion, if there is a similar one. But i saw your discussion. So joined your own.
Anyway i would like to say something different, so i will open a discussion similar to this one in the next days.
I guess the freedom of say things, also if quite similar, is much better than censure. But it's my own opinion.

I do not always check to see if a similar or identical discussion has been started as it is often not to get the right answer. Not everyone uses the same tags or titles for similar discussions therefore you will not know if one has been posted. Not everyone is asking about the same point to be discussed. The similar discussion could have been posted weeks or months before and therefore is new to many users. The longer you are a member of myLot the more you see see the same discussion topics being posted by different people. With the amount of users on this site it is almost impossible to have the only thought on a particular topic. IMO the only time I would get upset is if someone had copied my discussion word for word then that is cheating.

Oh dear! Do not get disappointed when your discussion has or had been posted by others after you posted it. That happens all the time here. Sometimes, when people ran out of an idea and saw that a discussion interests them, tendency is that they will post the same discussion or at least based on it.
Of course, it is truly disappointing on ones part especially when you see their discussion which is the same as yours has more respondents than your discussion. Copy cats are everywhere. This is money earning business. The more quality discussions you have, the more bigger the earning. We are not paid for original discussions. We are paid for every effort or activity we do in mylot.
So do not feel bad. Go on, do more discussions. Chill out, ok? Tc

Hi octavian,
I usually start whatever pops out from my mind. I am sometimes a victim but it was only now that I realized that I may also started a discussion which have the same topic as others posted before mine. My take here is that not all members log in at the same time. And people's feelings vary from time to time. Personally, at times, a topic caught my attention and I really wanted to contribute something but no words come out on top of my head

Hello octavian! Well, we can't really help it. Our discussions will really duplicate because there are 160 thousand plus members here and everyday thousands of new members joined here. I have some discussions who were repeated too after 2 or 3 days. I got a little bit disapointed but I try to understand that maybe it's a new member. Usually new members are the one who accidentally duplicate our discussions because they don't know how to find the discussions yet. You know what I mean? When I was new here, I am trying to find where I could check whether the idea that's on my mind has started already until 2 months of my stay here.

Or it could be that someone really needs to vent and they needed some quick answers hoping to find solace from the responses. They want it so bad that they did not bother to check. just my two cents.
