Awarding students for their effort.

Our school has participated in a national Health and Safety exhibition. Our students have participated with great enthusiasm and our head decided to award the best project as a sign of appreciation. As a teacher I would have wished to give an award to all students that participated but giving an award to 125 students out of my pocket would have been too much. However I am going to make sure that all students will be given a certificate of participation. © ronaldinu 2008

I think it's great that you could reward the students for their effort. I participated in quite a few events when I was in school and in high-school, but I never got anything. Only at the end of the year I was receiving a certificate along the best few of our class, certificate that was accompanied by a book. And let me tell you that I didn't want an award or something for all the competition I've participated and qualified for higher stages, a simple certificate of participation would have meant the world to me! Only recently, in college and master classes I've started receiving certificates of participation for the various sessions of communication I've participated. It feels great to see that someone took a while even to make a certificate of participation!

That is a very excellent job. As a student for 16 years, I do experince how it feels not to recieve any awards why your classmates are celebrating thier triumph because they were awarded by our techer. One way of motivating students to study hard it to give them rewards-That was what I learned during my on the job training. I was impressed on how my students behaved when I gave all of them rewards. They were very much motivated with that. LIke you everytime I gave them rewards, I make sure that all of them recived. Continue what you are doing. Thats good!

It is hard to have so many great students that try to work hard and not be able to award them as you feel they should be for their hard work. But a certificate is just a good it is something that they can keep and look back on and say Hey I worked hard for this. It is something they can hang up and be proud of.

That's good ^_^ At least it makes the students feel that their hard work is worth it, and they are recognized for their efforts, no matter they win it or not.. It's a very good encouragement and motivation for them.. As students, everybody likes to be rewarded and be praised.. Because most of the time, it's always easy to reprimand rather than praised ^_^ I'm sure the students will appreciate it as much ^_^

You have a great idea out there and indeed, it needs to be appreciated as well even they haven't get the top prize but the recognition is worth a thousand prizes. Certificate of Appreciation is a nice to start and a good token for them because we all know that there's only one who would get the top prize. Great job man.!!

Instead of rewarding one, why not a party for all of the participants that the school sponsored? That way all would be rewarded as I think effort is more important than the end results.

That is a good initiative. It will give lot of encouragement to the participant group of students to do better in their next project. All participating students are worth getting award, but by giving award to the best project will create a motive of competition among others to do better next time.
