Got a call from my son a little while ago. This is odd as he seldom calls unless we call asking him to call back. So anyhow seems my house with all the decorations in and out have gotten him in the spirit of the Holidays. He called asking if I still had his Christmass stocking from when he wqas small. Of course I do. So he says he and his roommate have put a few lights up outside, a tree is up in their living room etc. Now he wants to hang his stocking on his mantle. So I searched and found the stocking plus an extra set of 200 mini lights for him to add to his decorations. Are your grown kids in the spirit? Do they decorate their house at all? my oldest daughter has been in the spirit, well so have i lol, since the first of november. she called me on the 16th and was putting her tree up, i had to admit i was doing the same the next day. i talked to my youngest yesterday and she was decorating. my oldest decorates inside and out, just like me, my youngest is decorating inside, so far, but it's her first christmas in her own place. i guess i got it from my dad, he won the yard decorating contest several years for his neighborhood. and they still decorate inside and out, my sister was there helping my mom yesterday. my sister won't be decorating her own place this year, they are still living in a hotel due to hurricane ike.

Odd thing is my son isn't the type to do the physical work of decorating. So that's why it shocked me. Especially since iot's so cold today and the tree outdoors he wants the lights for is about 25 feet tall. He will be cold that's a given. I've been in the spirit for a long time as well. I had my lights on the house and garage since the first week of November. I turned them on about the second week of Nov. They are on each night when it gets dark and turned off abouit 11 or 12 midnight. My daughter nor son usually decorate as much as I do. This is the first year my son has actually. My daughter has a few lights outside some years is all. So how long before things get straightened out with your sister as far as living arrangements etc? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRNDPA BOB !!~

That's awesome that your son is getting into the spirit of the holidays. My kids have been on my butt to get decorations up. We have some Christmas lights up finally. But only because I came in one night from taking my son to his dad's and told hubby that if the grinchy neighbor could put his lights up, then we need to as well. That got hubby off the couch finally. LOL!

I think my oldest daughter is decorating her place. I haven't done so in several years and probably won't again this year. It's only me and my youngest 19 year old daughter at home now, and I work way too much to worry about dragging it out and putting it out and then having to put it up. Glad your son is decorating and that you were able to locate his stocking for him.

I just gave my son a tree with enough lights and decorations to make it look really good.. I also gave him a wreath for his front door, candles, and other different decorations to put up around the house.. I hope he takes care of them, as he has a new wife and these were decorations that I have had since he was born.. They didn't get the ones that I wanted to keep, they have to wait until I die to get them.. This is his first year decorating, so he was greatful..

Well it sounds like he's taking after ol' dad huh? . Well I don't have grown kids, but I'm a grown kid, and I'm starting to get into the spirit, I'm just about ready to put my tree up and for me this is early...lol.

How lovely your son is wanting his stocking, GB! I had stockings for my children when they were little (actually, up until they left home) - and this year I'm going to fill them again, even though my daughters will be visiting in January instead of being here on Christmas day. My son is living at home, so I'm going to surprise him and resurrect his stocking this year ... he was a bit disappointed last year when it wasn't at the end of his bed!

Hi, my eldest daughter who is in Dubai, has shown me her little Christmas tree which she bought last week of Nov. and the mistletoe she hung inside their room. She is so excited because this is the first time that she is celebrating Christmas with her husband. This early she is already making plans on what to cook for their dinner. My girls are in the spirit, my two girls' who are with me were the ones who put up our Christmas tree. Merry Christmas!

I am a grown kid and I only put up a tree. I used to put up those icicle lights outside but they were too much trouble. Now we only do a tree. Maybe when my kids are a bit older and can help decorate we'll do more.

Yes! My daughter has her own home now and I cleared out a huge bag of my old Christmas decorations and give them to her. I even had an old plastic Christmas tree up in the attic that I forgot was there. I had some tree baubles that her Grandmother had got her name ingraved onto for her first Christmas so I thought it was her time to have it. She is very pleased and says it will save her a lot of money as times are tight at the moment.
