You just CAN'T make this stuff up

The article is from this past spring but what it talks about is so beyond lunacy and sillyness I had to post it, lest we miss something like this sneaking in under the fence over here. When your done laughing (and it took me a while to stop), take a moment and consider what something like this means. http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/015/065njdoe.asp

This means I have committed mass murder today. I have not only boiled pinto beans alive, I have also dismembered a couple of carrots and two stalks of celery. Oh, and I did a vivisection on an onion.

irishidid, I am guilty of murder by boiling some alive today, too! I made a big pot of soup, and just think of all the vegetables I stripped of their lives - onion, celery, cabbage, potato, carrots, green beans, peas, corn! They might come for me tonight! But it won't be before I have a hearty meal of soup and cornbread!

Well, you know animals have more rights than a human now. So why is it unthinkable that plants will one day have the ups on a human? It only takes one (yes, one) to get something started and it gets on a roll, and the these thing you know, it's a law! It is laughable that this might happen, but it's not inconceivable. Guess we have lots to look forward to, right?

If we stopped and thought about things that happen, we'd probably never touch another bite of food! We'd be on the bandwagon, stopping any animal from being killed for food, fish not to be caught and cleaned, and gosh - just listen for the cries of those little leaves or as they are plucked off the vine. It is sad when our food starts talking, isn't it - or sadder when people think we should watch every step we make in order not to trample a plant. I wonder how the grass on my yard feels when I walk across it?

I honestly have no clue how to react to this. I joked about the feelings of plants to poke fun at vegans and vegetarians before, but I never expected anyone in this world would actually seriously believe plants need any special treatment. I guess that's what happens when you don't take the stupidity of people with unnecessarily bleeding hearts seriously.

Ok..I think I am done laughing now....wait I think I have a couple of chuckles left......ok I am fine now. Does this mean I could be arrested and charged for the house plants I killed over the summer? It was an accident. But still...should I get a lawyer? Do I have to pay restition to my garden plants for taking their vegetables and eating them? Or how about my rose bushes. I cut off the roses to put in vases in my house. Do I need to go outside and apologize to them? This is getting unreal. THe part about "you can not really claim ownership" thing had me laughing up a storm. I mean on come. I bought them. I take care of them. Um....if I do not own them and they are staying here free, in fact I paid for them to be here...can I start charging my plants rent?

The first time one of my cats or my dog tells me that I don't own them, they're outta here!

Wow what kind of cat do you have. Mine acts like she owns the place and just allows me and my family to live here and pay the bills.
