Double period

(This is a "girly topic" so if this bothers you, there's your fair warning.) I got my period two weeks ago, normally. A week and a half went by, and IT STARTED AGAIN! This has never happened before. At a healthy weight, my period is notoriously on schedule, and it has never been early like this. It's as heavy as ever, too. My girlfriend thinks it's possible my body is trying to synch up with her cycle, which is definitely a maybe. In the last year I had ovarian cyst issues which have been mostly resolved with slight diet changes and less caffeine. (The ovary sometimes bothers me but not nearly like it used to, not enough to where I'd suspect it messing with cycles.) And no, there is absolutely no chance of me being pregnant or miscarrying. Have you ever gotten a surprise period? Is it something to be concerned about if it happens again?

I am not a woman, but my wife has had some problems with this in the past. Her last two or three periods have lasted for two weeks straight. She went to the doctor, and he said that every thing looked normal, and that it was likely a result of stress and some medications she is taking. I told her that if it happens again, she needs to go back to the doctor again and make sure. You may want to go to the doctor...

i haven't experience this one but my cousin experienced having her period for 1 month. so when she went to the doctor she was prescribed to take birth control pills and it was effective because her period turns to normal. i think it's just about hormonal imbalance but of course of clearer and accurate explanation visit your OBgyne.

Originally for my cysts I was prescribed BC pills, they didn't do a lot, but I eliminated much of the caffeine and junk food from my diet and there they went...I basically shed some weight, which I resent to say because I have eating disorders which mess with hormones. But yeah, if this happens ever again, I am definitely going to the gyno. No reason for menopause before 45.

It's definitely something that you should ask your doctor about. You may just have irregular periods for a bit. Your hormones may be a bit out of whack due to a change in diet or something of that nature. I would definitely ask my doctor about it. You might want to try some birth control pills for a month or so and see if it helps. You may have to take birth control pills for a period of time to regulate your hormones again. I had to. Either way, I'd go to the local health department.... pills are free there... and talk to the gyno there.

Thanks, yeah, I may go back to my gyno (she's a nurse practitioner) and see if it has something to do with anything from the last 12 months. Who knows? I was on birth control for a while, to regulate the cysts, but lost about 20 lbs and that seemed to work too. We'll see.
