My fifteen year old son has to wear glasses all the time now as he is shortsighted .We have recieved two pairs of national health glasses for free and he is having contact lense lessons at the moment,he goes to the optitions and they let him practise till he gets it right he has one more lesson then he can bring them home and wear them for a while each day,it looks like he will be able to practise more during the christmas holidays and then by the time he goes back to school in jan he will be able to wear the lense full time, the lenses aftercare and all the bottles of special water ,we will pay twenty pound a month for so we think that is very good.Do you wear lenses or glasses and how do you get on with them and are they expensive, next year we would have to pay full price for his glasses as he will be sixteen if he stays in full time eduacation,I think he will still get glasses for nothing, what is it like where you are.?

I wear glasses now and when I go to social events I wear contact lens. Back in the day I hated to wear my glasses because they were so thick and the frames were so big. Now that the lens are smaller and the frames I like wearing glasses. I think your son will love the contacts once he get used to them.

I can relate to your husband. Image going through school with children picking on you and calling you cat eyes. It was horrible. I do understanding him not wanting to put his child through what he endured.

My husband had to wear thick rimmed glasses as a child and had a terrible time so he is really keen that my son does not have to,the free glasses are not like that at all,but he is very interested in girls know well he has been for sometime and has had lovely looking girls, even though I say so myself he is a good looking boy blonde hair and blue eyes and if he had to wear glasses all the time although he has not said as such it will dimish his pulling power.

I wear glasses and yes they're expensive. Contacts aren't comfortable for me and I've never quite decided to take the risk with laser surgery.

My sister in law had layser eye surgery she got hers on interest free credit and has never looked back, pardon the pun so if you can afford it ,not having to keep buying glasses which are expensive anyway it actually might end up a bit cheaper as the years roll by.Thought I would let you know about my sister in law she doing really well.

I'm nearsighted, I guess that means that I can see close up and I can't see anything far away. When I was a child I would of never guessed that I'll be blind as a bat before I even reach 20 years young. I'm suppose to be wearing glasses right now but I broke them while I was running to hide from a tornado. They were good glasses that I got for free through some program in the school I was going to. I always preferred contact lenses but I guess the glasses wasn't so bad.

I've had to wear glasses since I was in 2nd grade! I can blame both my parents for having bad eyesight! haha, but I FINALLY got contacts when I was in 8th grade. I had to beg my mom for them since all my friends were finally getting contacts too. I wore them ALLLLL the time in high school. Now that I'm in college I wear both. Contacts when I'm not feeling lazy and tired and glasses when I'm tired or just feel like looking smarter with them on.

I wear glasses. I have been wearing them since I was about eight. The kids at school used to tease me and call me nerd...they still do actually I wonder why ("steve urkle laugh and snort")?..hmm? I think they are uncomfortable at times and I would like to try contacts but mom says "yeah right when you start working!" intil then I guess I'm stuck with glasses!

I've been wearing glasses since I was probably in kindergarten or first grade. I almost wanted to get contacts, but my boyfriend likes my glasses, so I'm leaving my eyes alone.

Here contacts are more expensive than glasses.I would prefer wearing glasses because they are safe to wear in the eyes. When we put contacts there are chances of infection getting in the eye. When we wear glasses we should be careful that others don't bang the spectacles by mistake.

I wore contacts for about a year then went back to glasses. For me its easier for several reasons. I don't like the hassle of cleaning contacts, nor the expense. Plus I have dry eyes and rub them alot so contacts won't work with that. And now that I wear no line bifocals, glasses are just easier. But those are very expensive too so I try to make a pair last me two years at least if I can. But unfortunately my vision changes often so sometimes I have to get new lenses each year.

i know what you feel. when my eyes get dry and im wearing my contact lenses, it hurt your eyes and more times you get uncomfortable. so i don't recommend contact lenses to people driving a vehicle especially motor bikes, could cause severe accidents for you.

I wear glasses, and I pay for them myself as I have no insurance. When I worked, the insurance company paid for them every two years. I have never worn contacts, nor would I want to. Personally I don't like the way I look without my glasses on besides, I doubt that I would be able to put the lenses into my eyes without doing more damage to the eyes than it's worth

I usually wear contacts but since the last contacts I had was hurting my eye, I was a little bit traumatic. I wear glasses for a while until I got my courage again to use the contacts again. i like the contacts more because I could get my make up done without any barriers between the eye and the world. LOL. I wanted to buy the colored contacts but just don't have the time and never be able to choose the color.

what do you usually draw? i suggest you use your glasses more often. stress on the eyes can cause severeness of your blurry vision.

I also wear glasses because I am short sighted. My eye wear was subsidized because I had a health plan that covered 80 % of the cost. I don’t know if I will ever try contact lens I think for one it will be two expensive and I am not sure I will understand how to care for them. The truth is I have never enquired about contacts so I don’t really know what the price will be like but knowing how our private sector likes to flagrantly increase prices I wouldn’t be surprised if the lens and after care run me a pretty penny. All the best for you and your son will his new eye wear.

Contacts are expensive, but i can't do without them. They're much more comfortable for me. As someone who plays sports and works long days, glasses tend to make my face oily. Its also easier to get cheap sunglasses that you don't need to worry about if you're wearing contacts.

I wear both glasses and contacts. I have nearsightedness and astigmatism. I wore glasses ever since I was a child. During my first years in college, I started wear contacts. Now I am wearing my glasses more than my contacts, because I had to reduce my spending on contact lenses solution.

I wear both because I don't like the caged in feeling that my glasses give me, especially when I'm at work. Also, I wear my glasses when I just don't want to deal with my contacts, or if I plan on going back to bed for some reason after I wake up.

I wear glasses as well, i guess you can tell from the display picture that i have posted here. But I havent really gotten the nerve to try contacts just yet. Believe it or not, i really enjoy my glasses a lot and i thinkk that they just bring out my appearence more than if i didnt have them at all.

Hi there, I have been wearing contact lenses since I was 15. A while ago they were quite expensive. I used to pay 20 pounds a month for contact lenses plus solution and then I would have to pay extra for a contact lens check-up! However these days it is only 10 for the whole package/month and I get the check-ups free!
