I have always heard this statement but never quite sure of its authenticity. I suspect this is really about persons who are set in their ways but is this true any at all and to what extent? Is it even true for animals much less humans? What is your experience in this regard?

the meaning of this is for older people who are set in their own ways. that most of the time they will change or they don't want to learn anything new such as computers.

I think it is true for people who are very set in their ways. Those are the people that it mostly applies to. Other than that, people who are open minded usually change if they view that they are hurting someone or can better their lives. So I agree with it but do not agree with it all at the same time.
