Energy Drinks?

Do you drink energy drinks? What kind? I never used to, coffee type drinks would have been good enough for me. I like cappuccino, and I love Starbuck's Frappuccino. But one day hubby tried a Monster energy drink. He really liked it, and it gave him loads of energy. Then I decided to try one too, but I got the coffee flavored one. Well now we're hooked. Everytime one of us goes to the store we get Monster drinks for ourselves. It's loaded with B vitamins and some other natural ingredients like ginseng. There is also a bit of caffeine, but not a lot. And they taste really good too, at least the coffee ones do. I've never tried any other sort of energy drink, I always worried it wouldn't taste good. I've heard people say the Red Bull doesn't taste good, and it doesn't give you much energy either. What do you think? Which one do you drink and how do you like it?

I don't and here's my reasoning for it: Energy drinks may give you a temporary energy boost. However, this "boost" - which may last as long as a few hours - typically results from the large amounts of sugar and caffeine they contain. Worse, these drinks are often marketed to kids and teenagers, many of whom already struggle with their weight and don't need to add a caffeine addiction to the list. In most energy drinks, caffeine levels were higher than the FDA limit for sodas, which is 65 mg of caffeine per 12 ounces. The FDA does not regulate caffeine in energy drinks, some of which contain huge amounts of it: 280 mg in an 8.4 ounce serving, compared with about 100 mg per 6 ounces in coffee. All I'm saying is: know what you're drinking. Energy drinks are not necessarily bad for you, but they shouldn't be seen as "natural alternatives" either. Some of the claims they make such as "improved performance and concentration" can be misleading. If you think of them as highly-caffeinated drinks, you'll have a more accurate picture of what they are and how they affect you. You wouldn't use Mountain dew as a sports drink. And a drink like Red Bull is more like strong coffee and whiskey than anything else.

Red Bull is only good as a mixer with Jagermeister LOL I like rock star, the fruit flavored ones. I like the pomegranate one best but can't find it too much anymore. They do give you a temporary boost too.

I don't drink energy drinks. I don't know why but they just never have appealed to me. i don't drink coffee either. although i do like cappuccino. my husband likes to get a monster drink every so often though. he has never said if it gave him energy. caffine in soda and cappuccino never seems to do anything for me so I guess that is part of why i never bothered trying the energy drinks.

I don't believe Monster has a lot of caffeine. Some of the energy drinks might, but Monster has other factors that give you energy, like vitamins and other supplements. It definitly gives me a little boost.

I rarely buy energy drinks. I have tried Red Bull and I don't like it. I have tried RockStar and it is decent. My sister loves the Monster Coffee flavored ones. She has tried most of the energy drinks out there. She says most are decent, but there are others she would never buy again.

Frappucino is good enough for me. I've never tried any energy drinks and have no urge too.

yeh i drink energy drinks all the time i have atleast one everyday, i need to cut down to be honest as im sure its not doing me much good apart from energy :) My first energy drink was also a monster and i have to say these are really nice but quite dear, when you read the back it may say its giving you half of your rdas etc but sometimes this is only for a third of the drink and pretty much everydrink is over the rda of vitamins. Im not sure where youre from but in the uk there is a drink which they sell in some places for 35p which is a nice energy drink and very cheap as you can see :)
