I dont think that has even the slightest truth in it at all. That doesnt make sense. Has something to do with having air stuck in your stomach or something.

the stupidest things that keep being passed around!! i wish they would figure out what exactly causes them and then people will know and then it would put this stupid tale to rest

Keep in mind children grow up... we grow sideways haha hence the increasing waistline =P Okay okay kidding well i never did hear about hiccups meaning that you are growing up and it does sound silly since at a certain age a person stops growing but i know that sometimes after a person stops growing their eyes keep changing (like when you check your eyesight you find you prescription

the reason anything is called an old wives tale is because it isn't true or at least not true in the eyes of science, you decide, if it works for you then it is true, if it doesn't then it is not. p.s you could be growing fatter lol,

well that's what my mom told me when i was a kid and had hiccups. she said don't worry that means you're growing up. of course i believed her then. i stopped getting hiccups when i entered my teens. so maybe there's some truth to it?. but the problem was i didn't stop growing when the hiccups stopped. hmmm...

HA! I'm still growing at 56? Nah, it's an old wive's tale. I don't believe hiccups have ever been fully understood. I mean, the mechanics of them are known as well as a lot of the triggers, but fully understanding them has not been resolved. I get them whenever I eat an apple! I've eaten apples with and without the skin... same outcome: hiccups. I can eat apple pie, applesauce or anything else made from applies and I'm fine. I just can't eat a whole, raw apple. Weird, huh? Indigestion is definitely a trigger. I'd love to know WHY they happen, though! One day, maybe, you think?

I am laying my money on old wives tale...and i got the hiccups yesterday out of the blue and i was like WTF?!?!?! I hate getting the hiccups because no matter what i try only one thing gets ride of them and its not something i like to do, but yesterday thankfully they went away on there own. Oh wait they probably got scared away when my bro started getting sick. Can't you scare hiccups away??? Oh and the way i usually have to get ride of them, which is always a last resort, a spoon full of sugar.
