Are you going to a company party?

My husband's company is throwing a party tomorrow for their employees. Hubby is not planning on going, although everyone in his company, all his bosses, are telling him he should be there. He really doesn't want to. He's gone the past 3 or 4 years in a row and it's always been a disappointment. They usually hand out awards and certificates, and one year they were talking to him in a way that made him think he was getting an award, so he got his hopes up. As it turned out he didn't get one, and he really deserved it. Instead they gave one to someone who didn't deserve it, and hubby was extremely disappointed. So, we don't think we'll be going this year. I didn't go last year either, I was 9 months pregnant and didn't want to be around a bunch of people drinking and having a good time. This year I don't feel like trying to find a sitter, so even if hubby does go, I'll be home with the kids. Are you going to a company party this year?

We aren't going to any company party this year. The job my husband was at doesn't have a company party. They just have a big spread for the employees one day at work. He started a new job this week but they have already had their company party so we missed it. I don't know if we will go next year or not. If the other place calls him back from the layoff then he has to decide which place he wants to work at. Plus he isn't real good at introducing me to his fellow employees so I wouldn't know anyone.

My husband is good about introducing me to his co workers. I already know all the ones he's currently working with, but he'll be in a new store on Monday. At his new store I know the GM very well, but none of the other employees.

My bosses gave up Christmas parties a long time ago...so when there is a company get together I am the one that has it....but this year I am getting company and don't have the time or energy to have an extra party....but after the new year I might have a get together...but I don't invite everyone....just the ones that get along. I know that sounds horrible...but that's just the way it has to be!

hi katsmeow! well i work freelance so that means during christmas, no bonuses and no 13th month pay. and no christmas parties either. but my husband has started working two months ago and this sunday, their company will have their christmas party. he is attending. but it is not an intimate party. he is working with a call center and it is a big company. they could not even bring their families. so i think he will just go there and eat...hehe anyway, i do hope he wins prizes. because i am sure there will be. take care and God blessyou! merry christmas! :-)

No, I won't be going to a company party this year. A tragic incident in my family will keep me away from parties this christmas and new year :(

Where my hubby works they never throw a party anyway, sometimes the lads will arrange a night out and take their wives and girlfriends but this year they have arranged a lads night out only which I am not very impressed about as I would have quite liked a night out on the town!

I doubt we'd even attend that. Part of the problem for us is getting a sitter.

I don't blame your hubby for not wanting to go especually if they got his hopes up and he got nothing for the hard work he's been doing. Every year my boss has invitations handed out and we have to respond by a certain date to let him know if we're going to show up or not and we're allowed to bring a guest. I've went every year that I've been employed there which will be only three years now. Usually there is gift exchange and a dinner included with music, drinking and dancing. This year he was handing out gift certificates for $25.00 and a list of places you can spend it at. This list is quite huge. Also, every year they have a seperate party for the children. It's been boring but the kids had fun but on Sunday they are having it at the bowling alley so I know my son's going to love it! I have to buy him a $10.00 gift and bring it to work before Sunday so the guy dressing up as Santa can just bring them for us. Have a good day

That sounds nice. I think if hubby's company had a seperate party for kids, or even allowed kids to attend this one, we'd probably go. Part of the problem is not having a sitter,

Yes our company is throwing a party regardless if it's at work it's the fact that they are giveing one that counts. I will go for I never went to any of my other company parties for I never cared for anyone but this one is different. Everyone is so nice and I think it will be fun. I am going with a friend from work and then afterwards going to my son's so it should be a good time. I do hope everyone enjoys theirs when and if they decied to go to it.

My husband's newspaper was purchased by another company and they have been cutting corners everywhere. We haven't heard any word of one so probably not. The last few years, they rented the local bowling alley and had food and free bowling with door prizes and such. They have never really been known to give a Christmas bonus either and we're not sure what this new company will do.

I'm going to our Hospital party because I dont have a choice, I'm one of the participant to be part in a dance contest. And now we are really practicing hard to win that contest to add up to our department Christmas party that will be held two days after the whole hospital party. It was my first time to attent the party because I'm a newby to the hospital and I'm looking forward to have fun that night. I hope I really do have fun!

I can't be bothered going to my work party. Those things always sound a little lame. Oh well, it's tomorrow and I'll be 'on call' instead, which is fine by me becuase money is always good :)

There aren't any company dinner or party held this year, so I'm not joining any of them. At this moment, I won't be going any company party also, as I'm 7th month pregnant now, and I don't feel comfortable going out in a crowd. I usually join the company dinner if possible, especially if all my colleagues are going, it'll be fun. ^_^

Yes I'll be going because I have a good premonition that I will win in the cash and raggle prizes. and they'll also be giving the bonuses so....and of course there will be partying and dancing and ,,,the food, it would be a sumtuous meal for sure. Our parties are always full fo fun, food and merriment. They usually give the awards during orientations and general seemblies but not during Christmas. In Christmas parties, what is given are gifts, bonuses and cash prizes. Cheers and merry Christmas!!

Nope, his job doesn't allow family or guests anymore because they have it in the store during business hours. Walmart sucks.

My company only throw year end party which mostly held in January of each year. Haha. Well, I do not really like to attend this kind of party but then since it is once in a year, I will still make some effort to appear on that party every year. However, I do leave as early as possible.

I'm not going to any parties. Times are too hard now for there to be any parties at work. The atmosphere is too depressing. Too many people got canned. If there was a party, I would go for the free food...
