Mommy, How do you know when the baby's hungry?

I was just thinking about this after responding to a discussion about when to have children. When you were younger, did you ever ask your mom or dad when they knew when to feed the baby? or any other question pertaining to the baby? When I was younger I remember asking when they knew when the baby was hungry? I remember my mom saying you just know, and I think my grandmother said that you know because you have to feed the baby every 2 hours. I'm not sure which one I believed, but I thought it was kind of cool. Do you remember what you asked, and which you believed (if more then one answer, or more one then person asked)? Has your child asked yet? What did you tell them? What are you going to tell them when they ask?

When I had my first child I asked my mother. I had to ask because I had no clue. When the baby and I got home from the hospital I looked at him a lot and wondered "what do I do now?". She told me about the ounce per hour thing and then told me about putting the baby ona schedule. she was right of course, and it is funny that it does come back to you when a young mother asks. I try really hard to only answer the question they ask so I don't give unwanted advice.

I appreciate the response and am glad you know when your baby is hungry. I think I may have confused you though, as I wasn't asking how you knew when the baby was hungry, but when you asked your mom, or whomever you may have asked for the first time. Have a wonderful day!
