If you were a local friend of mine

plates we are givig to friends locally - This is one style. For our local friends who do not celebrate Christmas (it is hannakah (sp) for them as they are Jewish) we will have snowmen plates and platters.

I think that is a cool idea! I enjoy receiving homemade gifts because of the time, effort and thoughtfulness. It is so easy to go to a store and buy something for someone with no thought put into it. I also think with the economy being so bad that you are doing a good thing. I have spent too much on Christmas this year (sigh)!

sweet I would love to be your local friend. I would love to see your ceramic shop and be your helper so I could get the items for a % off. I love to paint ceramics.

LOL my ceramic "shop" is my studio which is a mess right now. I am getting ready to reorganize again. I don't like where I put my painting table so I am going to move things so that I can move the paiting table in front of a window for better light. I am going to move the pouring table down further and that is about it. I think I will be getting another table top for my painting table so that I will have more room. I have a ton of underglazes and glazes and no room for them on just the one painting table.

I had thought of getting wall shelves still thinking about it. I need something cause I have over 50 underglazes and over 25 glazes that I need to have someplace where I can see what I have so I can pick and choose.

Have you thought of going to some of those stores like Linens and things or Mervyns that are closing and buying their shelving to hang on the walls to put your paints on? If you have the wall space that may help you.

Sure I would! There are those though that appreciate the value of a handmade gift and love them and there are those who do not. To me they don't know what they are missing!! If it were me, I would feel honored to receive a plate like that with goodies from my friend

That is a wonderful idea and I'd be thrilled to receive something which a friend had made themselves. It shows that they've invested time and effort, which is far more valuable than simply money. What sort of goodies do you intend to fill your plates with? You might give me some ideas! In the past I've made up little gift baskets which include home made jams and chutneys, locally produced honey and our own olive oil.

Oh, you bet I would! I love it when people create their own gifts. And yours being a decorated plate is great, I could return it next year for a refill, or fill it myself when guests come over or it could be hung on the wall. Very clever idea and lucky friends!

I have the last one in the kiln. It is a snowman one that I painted myself. I will post the pics later when it comes out of the kiln.

I have to go through and post before I can see the picture, as I am answering from e mail. I am sure I would love it, though. I have not really made any goodies for Christmas, and I also know you do lovely work.

Thanks for the comments. The snow on the plate is raised and bumpy so that is how the snowmen will be too. I am putting one in the kiln today for the background color then tomorrow again for the painting. It is a bit of work but I like how they turn out. Will post a pic when one is done.

I think that is a great idea! The plate is beautiful and very festive and who wouldn't want a plate of holiday goodies as a gift? I love getting handmade items as gifts and I would be thrilled if a friend or relative gave me a plate full of goodies for the holidays!

I would love one of those! I think that is a great idea for Christmas. It shows that you put alot of time and effort and love into the gifts. I think that is the best type of gift. Something from the heart not from the wallet! I hope all of your friends/family are smart enough to appreciate it. Happy Holidays!

Hi sweet! Of course I would love to receive one of your "goodie plates"! Who wouldn't! The plates are beautiful and the goodies sound incredible! Everytime you start to describe what your baking my mouth starts to water! I wish I was one of your local friends! I would want to come over to "help" all the time! I would even wash the dishes or do whatever needed doing just for some "samples"! I used to help my upstairs neighbor years ago when she baked her Christmas cookies! I would get the burned ones, but I didn't care! That apartment smelled so good all the time! That woman could bake! I really miss her! I need to find out if she is ok because I haven't heard from her in a long time and she is quite elderly and I'm kind of afraid to call her. I guess I should take a chance because I always think about her especially this time of year.
