How often do you change bed sheets? or should I say don't let the bed bugs bite!

Did you know that doctors and allergists recommend changing your bed linen at least once a week, and if at all possible once every 3 to 4 days. This may seem like a lot of changing but guess what? Our beds are dirty things. All of our beds have, dust mites and or bed bugs that live in our sheets and linen. They like it there because we provide them lots of food. Bd bugs and dust mites love to eat the dead skin we shead each day as we sleep. We provide a free buffet for them every night. Did you know that we all sweat up to a litre of fluids a night while sleeping? Not to mention what else may be on your sheets....use your imagination here lol For all these reasons, doctors and allergists recommend changing your bed linen at least once a week. When was the last time you changed yours? Or should I just say "Night night, don't let the bedbugs bite" lol Sweet dreams!

Hi wheel, just how many times can this exact same topic of how often one changes the bedlinen crop up, I 'm not suprised you haven't replied to any of the respondents here as it really is a deathly dull subject. At least you have highlighted the reasons why this should be done regularly rather than letting the sheets fester long enough to walk to the machine themselves.

I cannot tolerate bad and smelly clothes for too long. i change my bed covers twice a week. i just cnt hold even if i see a single dirt on it, mostly i like plain white or light pink and blues over my bed and soft cotton i feel comfortable with them.. the last time i changed my bedsheet was 5 days before. happy mylotting.

Interesting info on the bed bugs and sweating! Not exactly thoughts I want to have before I turn in for the night. However, I changed our sheets last night, so lovely fresh bed for me. Nothing quite like the feeling of clean white cotton. Once a week is the norm for me, would prefer to do it more often, if only someone else would do the washing, ironing and changing for me. :)

Hey Wheel, That is one of the grossest things I have heard. I think it is the worst since was it 60 minutes that did that story on hotel rooms and how dirty they are? GROSS!! I always change my sheets on the weekend. I have been doing it for so many years now that it would seem too strange to change now. Hey, that rhymes!

I change my bedding every other day otherwise they get nasty smelling , your body sweats when you sleep no matter if you shower before bed or not you still sweat so i prefer to waste linen every other day just as i would all the rest of the clothes they are just as important, I change clothes daily so I feel clean linen should be done also.

Oh no... and I'm allergic to those creatures! I just changed our sheets last weekend. I change them every two weeks. Changing it every week... that would definitely give me a lot of laundry... :(

I try to wash them at lest every week. But all the thing that you are talking about are not only in your sheets but are also in your bed mattress.

Yup once a week it is. But if I could have my way, it would be nice to change them twice or even thrice a week so as to keep things fresh. But alas, such activity is too time consuming and expensive on laundry soap. Maybe this is why most change them on a weekly basis. But it does feel so good to lay down on new sheets every time. I sleep better like that. :)
