Cat food?

My male cat has had some bladder problems and the vet has switched him to a special food. The vet said that male cats have problems with food that has fish in it. I have always heard that cats love to eat fish. Have any of you had similar problems or have you heard that fish is not good for male cats?

Cats love fish, that doesn't mean its that good for them. I've actually heard that cats with the FUS (Feline Urinary Syndrom) more common in male cats but also happens in female cats, should not eat fish.

Thanks for the comment. I believe that FUS is the condition that my cat had. He has not eaten the fishy food for a while and has had no problems since.

Very good. I feed my horde Purina One, hairball fomula, and haven't had that problem yet - knock on wood....

That's a new one to me. I have two male cats and they love tuna and they never had any problems. They are 9 and 16 years old and both are neutered. I had heard that dry cat food can cause some of those problems, but that's what they eat mostly aside from a treat of tuna or meat. Maybe we've been lucky(knock wood). I would listen to the vet, though.

My cats ate both dry and wet food. I guess it only affects some cats and not others. I will surely listen to the vet though because their health is quite important to me. I hope that yours continue to be healthy.
