Grand Theft Auto IV and PC-related headaches

most of us have been waiting for so long for the arrival of GTA IV. console gamers are reported to be loving the game so much. we PC gamers, were still left hoping that they would eventually port the game to PCs. and then, the good news came: GTA IV is now available for PCs! unfortunately, there are a lot of flaws for the PC version. the specs are too demanding and PCs have a hard time running the game (even for the current ultra-high-end PC specifications). and the overkill SecuROM feature which "criminalises" even the legitimate game buyers. because of these problems, i don't think i'll be buying GTA IV soon (especially since i have to buy a new PC with better specs coz mine's got only the former high-end specs last 2007). not even (and not especially!) a pirated copy of the game. how about you guys? especially those who already have GTA IV games for PC. how do you find the quality of the game?

i have some friends who have pcs that can run gta iv but not at its highest quality of course. but most of the people can't run the game on their pc. i didnt even bother to buy the game either although i ran a check from a website to see if i could run the game on my pc, the test result was that my computer meets the minimum requirement. but had previously bought fallout 3 which did meet the minimum requirement but it started to hang after the first level. for the same reason i am not getting gta iv. and i am hugely disappointed with rockstar's effort in releasing this game on the pc. even their website said that it is for the 'future' PCs (yeah! and for now we're gonna rob you off your money for the hype gta has build for the consoles). if they knew so clearly that even the minimum specs would cause so many problems, they should have delayed the game until the 'future' PCs are invented. they are just cashing in for the hype but i bet this game has had its fans really pissed off.

hi there 060157! yeah, it's bummer to have such a "present time PC"-unfriendly game. i've been looking forward to playing GTA IV because i'm so addicted to GTA III, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas. until now, even if i finished all the missions in the three games, i still like re-playing them, or even just roaming around and being like a "virtual tourist" in Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas. so much cool things to do there. and it even helps me relieve my road rage (i'm a road rage driver, but i can control it now thanks to GTA) because when i get home, the first thing i do is play GTA (3, VC or especially SA) and just kinda imagine that the jerk who cut me off was the car in the game, then i'd blow the car or motorbike up. kinda pathetic but, hey, at least there's now one less road rage driver! LOL anyways, i do hope that a new update for GTA IV can be released so that they can be run efficiently by "current era" PCs... it's such a cool game, and it would be a waste to have the reputation of the game ruined because of Rockstar's actions. thanks and happy mylotting! =)

i had been a fan of the GTA series as well but it lost most of its respect because of the 'hot coffee' thingy in GTA san andreas... they were trying to be a bit too cheeky with that. anyways, i was waiting GTA iv eagerly as well, and was totally baffled to see its poor performance on relatively powerful PCs. even though i bought this PC about a year ago when GTA iv for PC wasn't announced, but i had bought it cause i knew they will release it for the PC eventually and it would require a better machine than the one i had. i wanted to play COD 4 and GTA iv, but turns out that my PC is okay only for COD 4... which is enough for me :D cause its multiplayer is amazing. if they release new patches to fix the game, which i don't really think would be any time soon, i would definitely try out GTA iv. but somehow i don't feel eager anymore for this new game just because of rockstar's attitude.
