Do you cover your desktop monitor and CPU with covers every night

Computer dust cover - It is always good to cover your monitor and CPU while you are not using them for a long time as the dust is considered to be the number one enemy against the fine performance of a computer.

I don't cover either. I never have. I do dust them often though. I rarely turn off my computer either. I don't know why, I just never have. I don't cover my printer either.

I keep my printer covered as I had damage to the ink cartidges from debris floating around. Everything else I use canned air and or a duster only. I air clean my keyboards, mouse, tower and monitor daily I dust them and the printer about twice a week usually is all. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Well as your name suggests you must be very creative in your dreams too to register them on the computer any time of the day or night.

No I do most of my work from home. And I have never used a cover for either piece of equipment. I don't even own a cover for either one.

Hello balasri. I have my old laptop only, but I don't usually cover it with any cloth. I just close it in most cases. Once in a while I clean the dust on it. Good day.

Nope. We used to do that around 10 years ago but not anymore. Actually our CPU is currently open to all dust and whatever - the case was removed because we kept on having problems with it a while back so we kept on opening it and got tired so we left it open :D It's doing fine without the cover so far. Thanks for the comment on my discussion!

That, my friend is a valid question because I don't and I know I should, mainly because my bedroom where my computer equipment is, is a terrible dust collector, I don't know why my room seems to gather more dust than anywhere else, I do clean thoroughly and reguarly too, I am not lazy in that way and yet I seem to be lazy where protecting my computer is concerned, dust can easily settle into the computer and cause problems, expensive ones at that, so maybe your discussion has pulled me to task and I should think, sooner rather than later to protect my computer, after all, my computer is my lifeline to the outside world!

Yes, whenever I am done with my job on my Computer, I make it a point to cover my desktop monitor and CPU and also my key board. Kids also do the like-wise, they have been given strict instructions that not to leave the computer, without covering it up with covers. You see dust keep coming and it makes all the computer accessories dirty, even after CPU, Key board and UPS are covered.

I do not cover my laptop as it already has a cover. By the way, what is the advantage or the purpose of covering your computer every night before you go to sleep. I might cover my computer if I am not going to use it for along time but if I am using it on daily basis, I would not do that. However, I do wipe my computer on daily basis to make sure that it is clean especially on the screen and keyboard. Cheers!

As dust gathers heat sinks and fans attempt to dissipate the heat from within your computer, but a layer of dust can reduce or prevent this transfer of heat. Also, computer fans can malfunction when dust and grime are allowed to build up.That is the purpose of covering your computer to the maximum possible extent.

Hello balasri, No, I don't cover my computer or CPU every night. I just clean it up once in a while. I guess you need to cover it to protect it from dust but since it doing well without the cover, I don't think there is a need for it. I think cleaning it everyday will help keep it in tip top shape. Regards.

Oh my dear that is one thing I don't do anymore. I am not that very protective! I admire those who still do that but certainly I can't have the habit. I would normally leave my computer as it is after I am done. But the next day, I always wipe the monitor and the the keyboard before starting with my activities.

The dust that get sucked in side the computer insulates the components so they are not effectively cooled by the air-flow. This is bad because it leads to premature component failure. Dust is bad for the removable disks. Dust can cause reading errors if it builds up.It is better to cover your PC for optimum functional results.

Dust is bad for a pc's performance. First, dust is an insulator, so it drives heat up. Heat causes extra resistance to the electrical components and they slow down. Next, depending on what's in the dust, it can cause electrical shorting, which can interfere or end the life of those electrical components. It is bad.

Hi, well, u made a great error, wts nt CPU, bt its just z case... well, CPU is a small chip inside z case, its a great error most people do, like U, well, am a computer technician, thats why telling u this.. please dont mind.... :) well, as far as covering z case & my monitor, i dont really do it because the case itself acts as a cover & concerning z monitor, at my place its not necessarily as my PC is in my room & dusts hardly enters & moreover, the atmosphere inside my room is superb for my PC... So, i dont cover my PC... :)
