When do you shovel?

We're getting a horrible snow storm today, so much so that the plows can't keep up. It seems like a waste of time to shovel, since 5 minutes later the ground will be covered again. We're not going anywhere for the rest of the day. Although hubby is currently at work, he won't be home until late tonight. I'm debating shovelling right now, but I wonder why bother. Why not just wait until shortly before hubby is due home? Do you shovel all through out a storm, or do you wait until you need to... or just wait until the storm passes?

I normally wait until it stops snowing unless I need to go out for something. Then I will shovel a path to the car or something like that. We live in the country, so there are no sidewalks to shovel and the drive way is gravel, so you can't really shovel it.

My driveway is gravel too, but we have to shovel it, especially after the plow comes by, otherwise we'd never get out of the driveway. Hubby has been stuck in it once or twice because he didn't want to shovel before he left for work.

If I were in your shoes, I'd leave it until hubby were due home. If you do it now, what's left is likely to freeze. Poor you! I'm so glad I live somewhere where snow fall is looked upon as unusual!

I don't mind doing it. It wouldn't bother me if I had to sweep it off several times and didn't have to use a shovel at all. It becomes more work if you let it build up and depending on a person's age, they can injure themselves doing something simple like shoveling snow. I'll even do the sidewalk in front of 2 houses across the street. No one else is going to do it and I have to walk in it to get into my vehicle. So far I haven't needed anything more than a broom this year. Do it often. It is easy and only takes a few minutes.
