Chrysler (Dodge Grand Caravan) and transmission problems

This is my second Grand Caravan. The first one needed the transmission replaced just after the car was no longer under warranty. Other than that, I can say it was a pretty good car. This one only has 16,000 miles on it and we just had to have the transmission repaired. Fortunately the warranty covered it this time. Does anybody else have bad experiences with this car and transmission problems? Or have one that's lasted a long time without transmission problems?

i just bought a new 2009 Grand Caravan and put about 250 miles on it and had a transmission problem. Its at the dealer as im typing this and not sure exactly what happened other than it is the transmission. We have a lifetime warranty on the powertrain and transmission but it is still agravating. I guess i should have known better because i traded in a 98 dodge durango on the cash for clunkers program and the transmission went out on that as well. What sold me on it was the lifetime warranty on the transmission but if i have to have it in the shop with problems all the time it's not worth it.

I too recently purchased a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan (stow and go), at 5,800 miles the transmission completely broke down. It's in the shop today having the transmission torn down.... I agree, it's aggravating...You think because you buy a new vehicle it will be reliable.... Not in this case.... JGT
