Johnny Depp won't raise his kids in the US

Now this is something I've known for quite some time, but I just came across this article and thought I'd get some opinions on it.
Johnny Depp, his wife and 2 kids live in France. He says he won't raise his kids in the US because he says it's an ugly world. He's not optimistic about society, and thinks everything has gone too far.
To be honest, I don't blame him. If I had a choice, I'd probably leave the States as well. I think he's right about it becoming an ugly world, and I too am not at all optimistic about society.
What do you think of this?

I'm not too optimistic about any of the societies outside of the US either. Anyone has a choice to stay or leave the US. I just don't think the long-term opportunities are that much better anywhere else. I like traveling and working abroad, but I love the things that our founding fathers stood for, even if I am not so thrilled with the state of affairs today.

I like the things our fore fathers stood for as well. Unfortunatly it doesn't seem like we're following those values anymore. I wish society could get back to those values and morals and get back to basics.

I wouldn't want to go to France mostly because I wouldn't understand the language, lol. But I don't see how religion is a big deal, they obviously still have freedom of religion, don't they? There's nothing wrong with muslims, we have quite a few of them here in the States.

I think he is referring to the US in a different point of view... since he is a celebrity... and is constantly being hounded by paparazzi which can be very ugly at times... he just wants to let his children have a normal life... which they can never have if they are raised in the US...
He is not the only one doing that... Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are currently residing in France with their children... seem like they get the privicy they so want there...
If they are just ordinary people... i think they would opt to live in the US rather that in other countries...

You could be right, but I'd still agree with him. The way the paparazzi hound celebrities in this country is outrageous. His kids are definitly safer in France.

The US isn't the only place in the world to contain ugliness of course, and I'm sure there's places there that would be great to raise a family. However, if Johnny Depp has found an alternative which he prefers then I wish him all success with that. I've chosen to raise my own kids somewhere other than my home country, and it's not as easy as just getting on a plane.
