i got punished for trying to give a christmas card?

i am a higher secondary student . i am from a small town in INDIA. yes! you read it correctly, yesterday i was caught by my school principal and got punished for preparing to give a x-mas card. the card was every girl in my class, there are 17 girls and i decided to give all of them a single card. Don't think that it is something else! one of that girls is my sister(cousin) and every girl in my class see me as a brother and i am happy that they think so . we have relationship like brothers and sisters and i wrote things as like to a sister. but i can't understand why principal was angry about me.

I don't see how you could get in trouble for doing that.
I know that some places don't like you to give out Christmas cards because they see it as religiously intolerant. I don't agree with that reasoning by any means, but I know that that is the reason some places don't allow Christmas cards.

Hello legend4u! Actually, I don't know your cultures and tradition there. Is it not allowed for you to write love letter to someone or write a christmas card to the one you admire? Because here in the Philippines, we are allowed to write love letter and send cards as many as we can. Well, for me, I don't think it's your fault. You are a very nice person and you just want to express how much you love your classmates as if you are their brother

it would have been wonderful if i get some more freedom to express myself. in India may be in cities there is lot more freedom, but as their is many culture and custom difference , i hope this things will change gradually and i hope it will be good changes

I don't think giving a Christmas card is bad to get you into trouble. In fact I don't see anything wrong whether you give Christmas card or even a love letter. Here in my country when its Christmas time, teachers asked students to make Christmas card to be given to one another. I don't know what are the costume in your country. you say your from India, I have an Indian national friend; I asked him before if they believed in God and he says they have God but not like with the Catholics. Maybe your belief is not associated with having a Christmas so you got punished.

Yes I remember i was in class 8 and our school was having the nativity play and everyone was supposed to help and participate in it on stage or off-stage helping with props etc.
I was too busy playing in the field with my friends making card wishing MERRY CHRISTMAS for the cutest looking girl in our class as, eventually I was caught by my Rector for skipping the nativity play and got a good spanking. On being asked what I was doing I told bluntly that all was making was card, at this rector soften and left us all with a warning and further punishment

Maybe, your principal thought you were making love letters for them. Didn't you tell him that you were only making christmas cards? If I were you, I would have said it to him. For me, it's okay because Christmas is fast approaching and you only want to greet your classmates a Merry Christmas! (Even I do this if I have time to make cards for all of my classmates but then, I'm busy so I just shout to them, "Merry Christmas!") He's just grumpy because you didn't make one for him then! Hahaha! ^^ Joke! Have a merry holiday!
