feeling miserable

I am feeling so miserable today that I can't even get up the energy to comment on discussions. My daughter gave me her head cold and I can't breath and my head feels like it's going to explode. I have taken two antihistamines and I'm going to bed hoping that I will feel better in the morning. When you get a cold do you just work through it or do you go to bed until the worst has past. Of all the health issues I have a head cold will put me out of commision quicker than anything.

Try Emergen C. You can get it from GNC. It's like a super shot of Vitamin C. I don't really like to take meds and I promise you, this is great stuff. It's a powder that you mix with water and it tastes like Kool Aid. It doesn't make your illness go away any faster, but it does make you feel a WHOLE lot better. No kidding.... I love that stuff.

I am feeling much better now but considering where I'm living now I'm sure this will not be my only cold this winter. I think I will get some of that so I have it on hand the next time I need it. Actually, you hit the nail on the head. I cannot swallow pills, even little ones, so a lot of remedies are lost to me. Can you just see the look an the doctor's face when I tell him he has to prescribe my antibiotics in a liquid form?

LOL! I've got a trick for that, too! I'm sure you've tried everything, but.... I used to have trouble with swallowing pills also. If you put it right under your tongue and then just take a drink as normal, it rolls right out from under your tongue and goes right down your throat! PS. it's probably more of a psychological thing at this point! But I feel your pain...it was a long time before I could swallow them. Good luck and get some Emergen-C. You'll be amazed.

I generally don't have any choice other than work through it. Ugh. I hope you get feeling better soon. Work with your body and not against it on this. Take care now that we have gotten all icy (YUCK!).

It's true that we do what we have to. When I was younger and had small kids at home I couldn't just give in when I got sick. Now that I am older and not responsible for anyone but myself I can be a little more self indulgent. Thank you for the get well wishes. We may have snow for christmas up here.

I'm hearing 60s on Thursday and Friday, after it being down to the single digits Monday morning. :p My son isn't small, but I am pretty much shouldering the load financially, so I really have to try to make sure I don't go overboard with the off days.

I hope that you are feeling a lot better. A week has gone by since you have posted this discussion. I hope that your cold is over. Did you take injections for it?

Thank you ronald, I am feeling better although my voice is still a little raspy. I don't usually go to the doctor over a cold. There is not much they can do about them any way. I just mostly ate chicken soup and drank orange juice and slept a lot.

I hope you feel better! I usually work through my colds. I hate staying in bed, being taken care of by my parents. I once went to school with a fever, and it went away after a couple of hours. I hate being sick!

Thank you for your kind words. I wish I had the will power to work through my colds. On the other hand I work through back pain and headaches all the time but a cold will almost kill me. I am feeling better today though.
