Christmas Traditions

Santa Mouse - This is Santa Mouse, he travels with Santa Clause and delivers presents to boys and girls. When you put out the milk and cookies, make sure you put out some cheese out too, so Santa Mouse will not feel left out.

My husband has added a new tradition to my daughters Christmas Eve activities, he reads her Santa Mouse and then they make cookies (I was thinking we should do Rice Crispy Treats this year) and prepare a plate with Cookies, Cheese and milk. I had never heard of Santa Mouse before so this is all new to me. How about you, when you got married did you better half add a new tradition to your Christmas Eve or Christmas morning? What are your traditions?

Yes, my husband has added to our traditions. I think with marriage, traditions kinda just blend together. We have also added traditions that are uniquely ours, that neither of us did as a child. A few of our traditions are making cookies with the children for Santa and watching Miracle on 34th Street (new) before bed with the children. We also like to check out the NORAD radar throughout the evening to "check where Santa is".

Yes, they do enjoy them, especially the little one. He is 6 years old and at that age where he's really into all of this. My oldest child is starting to grow out of some of it since he is 12, but he likes watching movies with us and of course he loves cookies (the children get to eat some of the cookies)!!! I won't be able to get him to look at the NORAD site this year though!!! lol!!!

Another part of our tradition was that my father would go to visit my brothers, their wives and their mother on Christmas Eve...and then in the wee hours of Christmas morning he would drive the 100 miles from where they lived to where my mom and I were at my grandparent's house...I remember being more interested in hearing my daddy come in the house than I was in hearing the reindeer on the roof or Santa coming down the chimney...LOL

My husband and I are spending Christmas eve with a friend this year, who has no family in town. Hubby loves to cook, so we are going to cook a great big Danish-German dinner. I'm Danish, our friend is German, and both cultures celebrate pretty much the same wy on Christmas eve).

I have never heard of Santa Mouse before either. That sounds like a nice tradition you have. We always get together with my extended family on Christmas Eve to exchange gifts. It use to always be at my moms house, but since last year, it is now at my house. There will be about 25 of us here. I cook meatballs and sausage and everyone else brings snacky stuff.

When I was growing up we would come to my grandmother's house on Christmas Eve and help my shop-a-holic grandmother wrap presents til the wee hours...and when I was little and the only grandchild I was forced to sleep upstairs (split-level home). Come morning, we all would go downstairs in order by age---oldest to youngest---with me being the last to come down so everyone would see my face light up at what Santa had brought for me. As my cousins started coming into the picture when I was 14 and up....we kept that tradition going...but now all the kids are older and we're more relaxed about the holiday overall...
