Is anyone other than me having a problem with Internet Explorer? I quit using Internet Explorer some time ago because a lot of pop ups were coming in on it. Every time I opened it here would come the pop ups. I down loaded FireFox and started using it. I didn't have any more trouble with it until a couple of days ago. I picked up a Trojan somewhere and it has really done a number on my computer. Internet Explorer would open and start loading one page right over another. It did it tonight and there was 50 page it had on it when I turned my computer off. I tried to delete Internet Explorer but it wouldn't let me. Kept saying it was being used. I then went into my program files and opened the Internet Explorer folder. I deleted as many of the files for it as it would let me. Now all I am getting is a single blank page that pops up over every thing. It isn't doing it very often but once in a while. The Trojan also screwed up my Hard Drive some way where I can't format it and reload windows. Looks like I am going to have to replace My Hard Drive to get rid of the effects the Trojan left on it. If you happen to get an email from someone that has the same last name as you but you don't know them don't open it.

It isn't FireFox that is causing my problem. In the blue strip ay the top of the pop up pages it has Internet Explorer. I have used Internet Explorer for years and always liked it but about a year ago I started getting a bunch of pop ups coming in on it. I quit using it and went to the FireFox and I no longer had the problem. This stupid Trojan has brought it all back but even a lot worse then it was. I have tried 3 different pop up blockers and they won't stop them. The only thing I know to do is buy a new Hard Drive and install it.

It seems that you got lot's of trojans and spywares on your PC, the problem isn't Internet Explorer as you say, the trouble are the viruses. The best thing you can do is to Format your hard drive and start again. One thing i made when my pc was "dying" was downloading HiJackthis, it's a program that detects all the proceses in your pc, some of them are the Spywares and Trojans, you need to post then on www.forospyware.com your log and the people there will help you. Good Luck=d

I can't format my Hard drive. It won't let me. The old Internet Explorer that is on my XP Pro CD I don't have any trouble but some way it got updated and that is when my problems started so I know it is Internet Explorer that is causing the problem. The Trojan screwed it up some way. It's a lot better since I deleted a bunch of the files in the Internet Explorer folder and disabled it. You can't ever open it now but there is still a problem. Thanks for your suggestions.

TheJOseph, I down loaded the HiJackThis and used it. I was able to delete the two files that were part of the Trojan. My computer is acting more like it used to. It is normally a real fast computer but it has sure been slow the past few days. Thanks very much for your help. Good luck to you and yours and have a Merry Christmas.

It could be a good idea to scan your pc for viruses and use a program to clean it up. If your virus protection is an older version, perhaps you need to renew it. That cleaned up my pc... IE should have an option to stop the popups, I guess it is on in my pc, since I never get popups.. I hope you find some solution to this..

I do hope you find a solution.. I think a new hard drive is at least cheaper than the whole computer.. I had a computer crash once, and had to change to another computer. But I lost some things, some mails that could have been good to have.. Nowadays I use only Internet based mailboxes that so far are working well... at least G-mail....
