My Christmas Card To My Friends - One of my Christmas studio shots

I'm just popping by to wish all my good friends here at MyLot a Warm, Hearty and Peaceful Merry Christmas. Can you believe it's that time of year again? Where the heck did the time go anyway? So what are your plans tomorrow? Going to be with family? Visiting relatives? Or just staying home and vegging out? When I made my birthday dinner last month I had bought a lot of beef stew meat, so much that I divided it and froze the rest, and right now is thawing out, as I plan to make my Beouf Bourgninon dinner again. It's a nice "elegant" meal without to much fussing about like one does cooking up a full blown Turkey dinner. For those of you not familiar with what Beouf Bourgninon is, it's a glorified beef stew, French style, but instead of simmering the beef in beef stock, one adds red wine. The first part of it though, is where you saute the beef to brown it, turn off the heat and add brandy, ten ignite it....ah, c'est manifique! Oh, la, la! Then once the flame is out, that's when you add the wine...hiccup.... I always add sliced up mushrooms and carrots..then just let it simmer for about three hours. I serve it on a bed of couscous (Moroccan pasta) So hope you all have a Merry Christmas whatever you're doing,...and here is a card for all of you....This is a studio shot I took on a Christmas theme

Well, while I have to go to work for a while, I am also going to my brother's girlfriend's for a mid-day meal. She's having ham. She's serving scalloped potatos and my sis is bring that green bean cassarole. I'm taking taboli, because we know I can eat it... They have pulled some fruit salad aside so I can also eat that (I hope it doesn't have too many banana's and pineapple in it...) She lived in far, FAR south Austin, and at some point after working and eating and probably stopping back by my client's, I have to drive to the roomie's folks to pick her up. They live in what is now a bedroom community on the north west side of town. I'm probably putting a hundred miles on the car today.... I actually got home from family stuff early last night, but didn't get a lot of mylotting done because I was so tired... so why am I up in the middle of the night?

I go to bed early and wake up in the middle of the night. I try to stay up late enough that I get a better night sleep, but I'm so tired from being around my brother this week that I've been crashing early. I didn't go over tonight, I needed a break from my brother.

Are you by any chance turning into a night owl if you're up late??? Join the club--maybe being around felines so long we're getting feline habits...sleep all day, up all night...LOL

Merry Christmas to you pye!! What am I going to do today, I'm going to my parents place in a little bit to spend part of the day with them. My brothers won't be down again which aggravates the hell out of me but what can I do? Not a thing but when my parents are gone, they'll have a lot of regrets but I'm going to let them know that I don't want to hear it because I tried.

I LOVE it when you describe your cooking, Pye ... it's mouthwateringly delicious! We went to my parents' for Christmas dinner - so I'm stuffed full of turkey, Dad's special homemade stuffing, which is VERY divine indeed - and beautiful Christmas pudding with rum butter. I wish I could fit in something else, as there are plenty of chocolates in the house at the moment ... but it's funny how you're never hungry when there's plenty of food! I hope your Christmas celebrations were special (they'd certainly be scrumptious!) - and wish you many blessings and much happiness for the New Year!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! We're not doing anything under the circumstances, but it's not because Mom didn't consider it - she wanted me to call the local diner to see if they were going to be open so we could go out. She's not nearly ready for anything like that. But, my daughter plans to come by and give Mom her gift (a bouquet of beautiful, if odd, blue-green flowers) and to get hers (a bunch of things in a huge gift bag.) There's really not much else happening. My cousin, who is her POA, came up yesterday and has yet to call her or even check on her. I wish she'd make a change in that arrangement while she still has the faculties to do it. But, regardless of that, I am happy Mom is home for Christmas. That all by itself is the best gift of all!!

Merry Christmas Pye! That is quite a beautiful photo! Your recipe sounds delightful! I would love to try it, but I think that I would be drunk from the just the smell of it cooking!lol I love Beef Bourgninon and it's been years since I've had any! I really would love to try to make it, but I don't think that I could do it justice! I do hope that you enjoy your wonderful Christmas dinner! It sure will be better than mine! I do love my lasagna, but I think yours will be the best! Give me love to Pywacket and Kissy! Merry Christmas!

Ever make homemade mancotti? I've done that...if you want I'll send the recipe of Beouf Bourguinon to ya....Pyewacket enjoyed some of the stew beef meet..I saved a few chunks of it and cooked it up separately and he chowed it down like crazy...Kissy unfortunately is a bit more fussy...oh well...there's always one! Hope Star and Luna had a great Christmas

Hi Pye! Wishing you a terrific Christmas too! Your Beouf Bourgninon sounds delicious...I can almost smell it cooking! Yummy. We're having homemade French Meat Pie for Christmas Eve after which we usually go look at Christmas lights. Tomorrow morning we throw the turkey in the oven (not your neighbor), then we go feed the ducks that over winter here. Friday we're going to a drivethru zoo, were most of the non-meat eating animals wander pretty much at will. It's a great day to go because hardly anyone else is there and we can spend more time. Hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow!

Glad you like the picture! That's my son, who just moved down here. When he was in school in Pittsburgh, he used these pictures to convince his friends that these were our pets...lol. Will email you the recipe for the French meat pie, it's good cold weather food, and easy to make. Enjoy tomorrow!

The year went by too fast it seems. It was around that same time last year that we started that "puppy club" trend with many of the previous respondents. Thing is, it doesn't feel that it was an entire year ago when that happened. Looks like my idea that was sent via email was sure a trend in that when we see a bunch of mylotters using the same avatar, we know that something happened where someone might have gotten banned & suspended.

Your feast sounds magnificent! I had cream of tomato soup that I made with some of the summers tomato crop that I froze. I made it with cream cheese and added couscous at the last minute before I turned it off, so we ate one thing in common! Hehehe. I am very much looking forward to living in my own place with conveniently located and diverse shopping facilities around me. I don't even get excited about food preparation around here, it's such a pain in the a$$ to shop, and I can't even get most of what I want when I do, that I haven't even been bothering. But I miss it a lot. I love putting together an interesting, attractively served, delicious and nutritious meal (to enjoy with my kitties, hehehehe).

I'm glad you know what couscous is. I "discovered" that about thirty years ago and make any excuse possible for having it...LOL. I had some stew meat left over and cooked it up just for my kitties to have, the only one who enjoyed it though was my Pyewacket. Kissy is more "fussy" about what she eats...isn't there always one? You're homemade cream of tomato soup sounds great!
