Sick on Christmas Day

Have you ever been sick on a major holiday, and stayed in bed most of the day? I went to a Christmas program last night at my sister's church, it was very nice. When I got home I was not feeling the best, I took some cough medicine and went to bed. I guess my resistance is low from all of the stress I have been going through. This morning, I felt so sick, fever, coughing etc. It is now three in the afternoon and I finally have gotten out of bed. Have you ever been sick on a holiday?

I've never been sick on Christmas, but I was horribly sick one Thanksgiving, years ago. I had a really bad cold. All I did that day was sleep in my mom's room. Thanksgiving was at our house that year. What didn't help matters any is I had let my cousins play my nintendo that day, and when I went into my room, I found that they had broken into my money bank. Now, I'll admit, I was stupid and left the combination on the bottom of the box, but I shouldn't have had any reason to think my cousins would steal from me. I did manage to get most of my money back, but it took some time.

Oh, sorry about your getting sick! I don't think this has ever happened to me, unless I was little and just can't remember. However, a girl from my school recently got hit by a car just a few days ago, and she's not really in great condition for Christmas. Well actually, the last update I had on her was probably Tuesday or Monday and it was the day after the accident and she had still not waken up from the accident. So I don't know if she is okay or not. I didn't really know her but it really is a shame.

Hello, sudalunts. Feeling sick on a special day sucks, doesn't it? It is bad when you are sick on a normal day, but when it happens on a Holiday like Christmas... Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to change it. I believe I got sick on my own birthday, twice. If I am not mistaken, once I was really bad and couldn't get out of bed. I was there, the whole afternoon sleeping, and I remember my neighbor coming and yelling: "Hey, Bruce (he used to call me Bruce), what a bad day to get sick!". And there was this other time, which I also think it was my birthday, when my aunt was here at home too, but I couldn't get out of bed either. Well, what can we do? Respectfully, Munhozmib.

I was horribly sick on my 10th birthday. Unfortunately,my parents threw a huge party where everything was planned in advance. So I was laying in bed raving in fever and everybody else was having a great time in my honor:) Wasn't as bad as it sounds, people kept peeking in and checking on me but the whole thing was ironic. My only consolation was a huge box of vodka(!) filled candy that some smart friend of my parents brought to me. Needless to say,I was only allowed to eat the chocolates after the contents were taken out:D

I cant say that I remember any such thing but I know that must be a lousy feeling to hav to be in bed while everyone else is having a good time.I suppose you can take comfort in the fact that you are feeling better now and you are well rested now while everyone else is tired .Your partying can now begin.

My birthday is at the end of november and I'm always sick on it or christmas or both. This year I did ok on my birthday. But sunday I woke up sick to my stomach and diarrhea. I was running back and forth to the bathroom and laying on the couch. Everytime that I got up I was sick. Everytime that I sat back down I was sick. I went to the doctor, they gave me medicine and a shot to help me stop throwing up, but it didn't work. I was still so sick I couldn't do anything. I couldn't eat anything until the next morning, even water wouldn't stay down..... I still can't eat much and my stomach still has it's moments...I hate being sick.

Gosh yes, I remember one over 20 years ago. I attended 'midnight mass' on Christmas Eve. I wasn't feeling 100% when I went. Felt a little queasy in the tummy. Anyway, about half way through the service I suddenly felt that I was going to puke so I bolted from the church. Unfortunately it was a church where I didn't know my way around. My first instinct was to run outside and heave in the bushes. But then I saw a sign pointing to the toilets and decided to follow it instead. Bad idea... before I found the toilet I lost control and vomitted on the floor. I should have just followed my first instinct. I felt sorry for my pastor who cleaned up the mess while I braced myself against a wall feeling miserable and weak. Anyway, after a horrendous night during which I managed to get very little sleep I went to my doctor (yes, he was open Christmas day... paid a fortune to see him though). He gave me a 'maxolon' injection to settle my stomach and told me to only eat salads for the day. If you wonder at the eating salads... I'm in Australia so it's summer here for Christmas. You've got to be joking... there was NO way I was going to miss out on my yummy roast Christmas dinner... I ignored his advice and thoroughly enjoyed my Christmas dinner... felt horrid again the next day but at least it didn't spoil my Christmas day. Oh, one other thing... when I got to my boyfriends house to spend Christmas with his family it turned out that he had the same bug... just that he'd started about six hours after me. Hmmm, come to think of it, I had several disastrous Christmases with that family. Four years later his grandfather took a fall and was rushed to hospital on Christmas day, putting a damper on our Christmas celebrations. New years was also somewhat subdued as he was still in hospital. He passed away at 5am on new years day. The other Christmas disaster occurred when a friend rang on Christmas day asking to be driven into the country to pick up his uncle who had been caught driving without a license. My husband (we were married by then) drove him down so he could drive his uncles car back.

== Hi There! Yes, I have been in that situation last year. Last Christmas, I was not feeling well. I don’t know what I have eaten that day but I am sure that I didn’t eat a lot but my stomach is lurching… I feel that I am so hungry but at the same time, I want to vomit… so I drink a lot of milk then it calm my stomach for an hour… I was able to go to sleep for few hours then I suddenly woke up because my tummy hurts like Hell… I cried of pain then I went to the bathroom then vomit then poop… it went on for like 2 hours… then my mom and aunt decided to bring me to the hospital. My blood, urine were tested.. its negative for any other symptoms.. then my poop… the result was I GOT AMEOBIASIS!!! I have to rest for 2 weeks and take meds… I hate the meds because it made me feel like I have an ulcer and dizzy… so there…. My Christmas was ruined because of that… I never thought I had Amoebas until last year… awwww…. But I am glad that I am okay this year… I am praying that I won’t suffer again from that kind of sickness because it attacked twice already n o matter how cautious I am with what I drink and eat… and my family don’t have amoeba so it is not our water as well… I hope you feel okay. Happy Mylotting and Merry Christmas! Cheers!

I've never been sick on a holiday that I know of, but I have on my last couple of birthdays. My son had a bad case of the flu one Christmas. There it was, Christmas eve, everyone asleep but me and my vomiting 6 year old. How he could hit 3 out of four walls in the bathroom is beyond me. Luckily by Christmas day he was feeling a little better. But most of the family didn't want to visit us because they were afraid of catching the flu. Hope you get to feeling better soon. :)

Yes I have. Luckily, this Christmas I am not sick. Last year I had an allergy and I was not able to go to work before the holidays which made made my vacation longer. It took more than a week for the allergy to be gone. I also have experienced having flu on my birthday 2 years ago. Then when I was in primary school, I was not able to go out with my siblings on my birthday because I had mumps. Sometimes, I feel really sad when this happens to me. But then, I have to take care of my self and my health. I hope you are feeling better now. Merry Christmas!

First of all I hope you are feeling a little better now. I have never been sick on a major holiday, but I remember one Mother's Day when a bunch of us kids got together with my mother for Mother's Day and we went out to eat at this mansion my brother worked at. I was miserable. I barely ate and when dinner was over I went home and took a nap while everyone else went to my sisters. Fortunately I only lived 1/2 a block from the mansion, so I walked home and fell right to sleep.

I had the flu for two weeks about 8 years or so ago. I was so terribly sick the whole time, and of course, it covered the whole week of Christmas, and the week after. I hate being sick in general, but I REALLY hate being sick on holidays, or when I have major plans. Hope you feel better!
