Cabbage equals Money Black eyed Peas Equals Good Luck

Have you ever heard this? It is a tradition here that you eat cabbage for lots of money in the coming year and black eyed peas for good luck in the coming year. My families luck hasn't been so great this year so I think I will eat a few extra helpings of those black eyed peas!

Not only will this bring you luck but it also is a healthy meal. I make my cabbage out of coleslaw mix with garlic and olive oil, and a little salt and pepper. Black eyed peas I make just like other dry beans, soak over night and cook all day with ham hocks, omly I've been using smoke pork neck, I like that better. Happy New Year

Never heard of this but I'll try anything right now. I like both so what do I have to lose?, lol! I can't think of anybody off hand that has been lucky this year.
