Did You Go Shopping Today, The Day After Christmas?

Today is one of the biggest shopping days of the year aside from Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving). I haven't ventured out to shop today, but I'm sure there are many people who will. I have thought about going out to see if there were any good deals since my daughter's birthday is next Friday, January 2nd. I thought I might be able to find something she wanted on sale. Have you been shopping today, the day after Christmas? Did you find any good deals?

No we didn't go out yesterday which was Boxing Day, which is what we call the day after Christams here in Australia. We live near a small town and so most of the shops are not open anyway and even if they were, there would be no really great special deals of offer. I think that the only places open here were the Roadhouse on the highway for fuel and food, 2 small takeaway food shops, the supermarket and newsagency till about 1.00 pm, the bakery and the tourist information centre. Of course the hotels and clubs were open as well. The nearest "big" town to us is over an hour away and even that is still not that large in fact. I suppose to find a decent sized town with a large variety of shops is just over 2 hours away and we are not driving there on the off chance that we might pick up a bargain. We did read about some of the special deals in the paper and there were some good prices for those who can afford them. The other thing is that I cannot think of anything that we so desperately need to warrant making a trip that distance particularly when there is more than enough work to do around our small farm. However we gave all our adult children (and partners) money for Christmas and so far a couple have sent emails to say that they have bought things for their homes at the sales. On daughter and her husband combined their money and bought a whole lot of good quality linen they had been wanting, His mother works for one of the stores and has a staff discount, so she used that in addition to the already reduced prices and they got some real bargains. Apparently the final cost was about 25% of normal retail price so they are very happy. Another daughter and her partner are buying electrical appliances which are already marked down by 50% plus they can also get a staff discount which will make things even cheaper for them. She had been living with her sister and he with his parents till they bought their own home a few months ago. Money has been tight and so they have been making do with things contributed by friends and family. So these purchases will be the first new ones in many instances and hopefully they will get all they want at good prices. Did you go out and buy any presents for your daughter singlemommy and did your father manage to pick up any good bargains?

Well, my father actually came back from shopping and the only thing he found on sell was some onions. Yes, I love my onions though and so does he. But anyway, him and I both ventured back out and picked up a few things that I needed around the house. We did go to the local Goodwill store and I got my daughter 3 pairs of name brand jeans for $2 a piece. I thought that was an excellent purchase. I also got the kids a Christmas coloring book for 50 cents. Everything else that I bought wasn't on sale, I just picked up some cleaning supplies, groceries, etc that I needed. Thanks for the comment! Happy MyLotting!

Hi there: I only went out because I had to get some medicine for myself and my Father and I wished I had stayed home (G)! Walmart of course was just NUTTY!! I don't like getting in those kind of crowds really, and not having money to shop for the bargains sucks!

I went shopping that day, because my roommates planned to buy a cellphone by a low discount on Chrismas. However,we didnot find the expected one,it seems that a low discount is on the basis of a high price that was raised before Chrismas.

No I haven't. I chose to stay home. There are a number of stores which are on sale after Christmas but it wasn't as attractive as in the states or the UK. Therefore I chose to stay in and not compete with the crowd.

I have not gone out yet today, but I am sure I will for a little bit later if the stores are not too crazy busy. You can get some good deals the day after Christmas.

Yes, you can. I'm seriously thinking about venturing out. My parents are visiting and my Dad is in town now trying to find some good deals. My Mom is still asleep, so I'm hoping when she gets up and my Dad gets back that maybe we can talk Daddy into babysitting my children while we try to find a few good deals. I hope you find some good ones if you get out! Thanks for the comment!

I did go shopping - i needed dog food for my dogs. I also ended up buying some chocolate and some toys for my little baby cousins - some pretty ponies and a baby doll. I also purchased a deck of cards and a chess/checkers/backgammon set. Everything was 50% off the lowest price so I paid 2 dollars each for thre ponies, 5 dollars for the doll set and 3 dollars for the chess set. I also purchased some stuffed toys (4.50 each) LARGE ones, wrapping paper and ribbon for next year. There wasnt much open around here to shop at so maybe on monday I'll shop again when things are actually open.

Yes, I went shopping today, I went to Target, and it wasn't that bad, there were alot of people in the store but everybody was being civilized. The only bargain I found was a flannel sheet set for a King size bed for 20 bucks, now I thought that was a deal considering sheet sets for a king size aren't cheap. I also bought a few towels, and they were 1.79 a piece, that was a good deal also. Everything that was on sale in there, was fifty percent off. It was a good day today.

Hello,,,No, I don't go shopping the day after. I usually wait for about week when everything is marked way down. Then I can get some really good deals. I get a lot of decorations and gifts real cheap then. Happy birthday to your daughter.

I just stood in the middle and I was moving without me exerting effort to walk! my goodness! i'm not going back there the day after christmas ... but I managed to buy 2 new pair of pants! yipee!!!

I'm glad to hear you bought a couple new pair of pants. That's great. I can just imagine how the crowd is in the Philippines, I know here in the US that it can get really crazy. Thanks for the comment and Happy MyLotting!

I didn't go shopping today but my mother wanted to and eventually went to a few pretty local stores herself and was gone about two hours or so. She found some things on sale that she wanted but she always wants something and always buys so many useless things it's not even funny. So I'm not surprised she found things. My partner said they found some jeans on sale for about $13 that originally, if I'm not wrong almost $50. That is not a bad deal at all. I'm wondering if I want to venture out tomorrow or if I would like to stay in I'm really not sure yet.

Nope. I sure did not. I worked 5:30am-2pm at my full time job. I then went home and changed and went straight to my other job. I ended up working 4pm-10:45pm there. I got home at 12:30 am Due to the fact transit was so unruley because of all the snow we have.

I went shopping, but only because I needed a new outfit for an engagement I have to be at tomorrow evening. I was asked to help out at an open house, it is a dressier occassion and I had no dressy clothes at all. I had to find something. After paying the bills and paying for Christmas, I didn't have much left over. Besides, the stores were so crowded, I would rather not be there long anyway.
