Most of my friend's on Mylot know that I live in a board and care where they really do not care about the residents at all. All they care about is collecting the rent money. In the last seven months, I have been advocating to try to change things and they have been attempting to evict me. Anyway, today the building could have caught on fire and it could have gotten out of control before anyone did anything about it. There is a man that lives here who is an almost hopeless alcoholic. He does not want to get help, because he feels he does not have a problem. So he panhandles all day long to get money to buy beer. He also smokes in his room all the time. Today, he was smoking and the fire fell off the tip of his cigarette and he did not attempt to do anything about it. After he told his girlfriend what had happened, she called me and told me. I got to thinking that this place could certainly use a fire sprinkler system, since I hear that the smoke alarm in his room does not work anyway. I am planning to call our city fire department and see what they suggest. I called them today, right off, but there was no answer. My question is, if the fire is in one apartment, do the sprinklers activate all over or just in that one apartment I would hate to get soaked every time this guy forgets what he is doing. It really frustrates me that the rules state that there is no smoking in the rooms and the staff does not do much about him smoking, although they know about it.

I am sure someone has already answered this but I will also. What I know about sprinkler system is they only go off around the area that is needed or they sense the smoke. So if his apartment goes up in flames the whole apartment complex will not get wet.
