When you're retired and old, What do you plan to do?

I'm not retired but I'm looking forward to it. I would spend it in a nice, cozy and well furnished cottage away from the city with mother nature around me and I would be there trying to make heads and tails of my novel. How exciting and fulfilling it would be to publish even one book for I will finally rest. I hope God will give me the chance to do this. Writing has always been a relaxation for me. I have thousands of words that I would like to see in print and hope that someone might get to read them.

I don't think I'll ever be able to retire, I won't be able to afford it.And as I sell online fulltime I guess I just ahve to keep going. Lately I've often thought if I could I'd love to have more time for my hobbies like sewing and restoring dolls and toys.

That would be fulfilling for you. You must do something you really love before you retire and go out of this world. Cheers.

Hi there Jenaisle! When I retire, I plan to visit different countries around the world. That is if I have the money to do that. Afterwards, or if I don't have the money, I'll just spend my days with my loved ones, near them, be on every special occasion to come, take care of my grandchildren if their parents need to attend to something important and maybe even if they don't.

That's a very homely and happy scene. Yes, it would also be great to travel around the world...I would like that too...and your being home with your kids is a very wonderful plan. Good luck.

I am retired, but seem to be working harder than ever! Now that I'm only working part time, I'm also going to mom's several times a week, and I just don't have the energy that I had when I was younger. Heck, even before I retired from my former job, I would have to nap during lunch to be able to finish up working the rest of the day. It will be 4 years since I retired at the end of March!

I am already retired. I retired in 1998 and since i am single and no family i have all the time in the world to do what i please. I am also physically disabled so do not move out of my house, infact i have been confined in a wheelchair since 1992 and ever since then have stayed at home. Ilive peacefully and do a lot of reading and also writing. I cannot afford to stay in a cottage as you have dreamed about but the place where i stay is quiet and peaceful.I am also in the process of writing a book or rather i am translating into english from the vernacular the life of a great saint which i hope to publish in a couple of years as it can be made available to a vast number of people all over the world. I do not wish to write or publish my memoirs as many persons do nowadays.I am also translating more stories of other saintly people into English but that i wonder when it will be completed as there are many stories to write about.

Hi Jen, I'm really looking forward to it! I'll still stay in my current house, after all, there's only my husband and I. And I will spend more time on the things I've always wished to do, but have no time - like reading, cooking and maybe writing. Maybe spend more time with my parents and family. I would still keep myself busy, but it'd would be an enjoyable busyness!

I am old now and have no job the place I worked closed. I too thought that I would be able to retire and enjoy life, but it is not happening, society has taken all of my retirement money and still taking it. I worked for one company for 24 yrs, and they went bankrupt and they took that retirement money. I worked again for a company for 9 years, now they have closed they didn't have a retirement plan, but I did have 401 k taken out of my paycheck and now it is being taken from us too. I will be at retirement age in the next 6 years with no money. BROKE, only in America.

That is an awesome dream and I just pray and agree with you that you will one day be able to just that. That is an excellent way to leave a your mark on this world. I think that I would just want to travel all around the world. I sing gospel and I would love to travel all over the world doing just that, but I hope that I will get to do this before I retire.

I dont work so there is no question of retirement.. I make money online and I enjoy doing it and will do it for most part of my life until I am capable of doing.. I like your idea of spending your time with nature and mother.. I plan to do the same but will not wait until I retire.. I recently visited my native place and I liked the people and the place very much.. I feel closer to God and nature at my native place.. I am collecting money so that I can purchase a car and house over there.. Once I do that I will fly off with my mother..

hello Gao, you've got to respond significantly to earn more, you wouldn't earn if you respond with one liners. It is not the points that counts it is the quality of your response. I earned my payout even before I reached 500 posts, while others had more than that but had not reached payout yet. Just a pointer. So good luck.

My plan when i retired is, may go to some vacation or looking a quiet place with mountain view or sea view would be fine. Or sit back from of computer, and start posting some message in forum, just for sharing idea and get another friend. Writing a book ? it would be great too, of course if we have a good story to write on. Participation in social group.

I am 75 and plan, never to retire, because a retired man is an Old man. I'll never retire because I love my work, and my work keeps me young. I do Yoga every day for 45 minutes before breakfast. This keeps my body fit and able. In the summer in Ontario Canada, I work from 9 am to 3 pm, with a break for lunch. I have 400 colonies of honeybees, and I must see each one every second week. Each colony will produce about 100 lbs of honey in a season. In the winter I live and play, in South Texas where I have Grapefruit and Bananas growing around my house. The temperature was 84F, here on Christmas day this year, after Christmas Dinner and a nap, I went swimming in the Outdoor Pool.

Wow! you're a wonder! such healthy living my parents are like you, they are even stronger than I am.lol... I do admire your style of living. It must be interesting to culture bees. How do you avoid being bitten by them, there must be hundreds..argh..and they sting so viciously.Grapefruits and bananas are great too...what can I say...I'm awed...happy new year.

I will probably have to continue working! I'm in the process of setting myself up business wise and I'm 33 years of age, guess I'm a late starter! I would like to relax and say that I will able to retire but I'm not so sure. Still, I think that the most important thing is to always remain positive, something I strive to do on a daily basis. That's a wonderful plan of retiring. Me, I just want to simply live with one of my children or grandchildren, to serve them and be with them till the rest of my life. There are times, however that we can't say they are still there for us although here in the Phils., there's a strong family ties that old ones are there to live with the family until their last breath. Should I retire alone, I'll be looking forward maybe to a plan like yours in even a simple hut in a province near to my childhood friends.
