Man shoots talker at movies. Man threw popcorn at son, then shot father after argument, Philadelphia police say. Victim was treated for gunshot wound to left arm, police say. James Joseph Cialella was carrying a .380-caliber handgun, police say. This is just nuts. We have all come across talkers in the theatres, right? What would you do? First I'd ask them to please be quiet. Then I would go get an usher or manager. What about you? No place is safe anymore. Yet another hash mark in the pro column for a Netflix account. http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/12/27/movie.shooting/index.html

He did ask them to be quiet - it says so in the article. They ignored him and began arguing with him instead.

That is terrible to read about. I would do as you said, politely ask them to be quiet. If that does not work, then I would go to Management. There are other options besides shooting the person (which is really extreme if you ask me). There was no reason to do that. If none of those work, ask for your money back. No reason for shooting the person.

That is taking things a little too far. I have been annoyed by talkers in the movies before, but not that annoyed.

Talkers at theaters irritate me enough to want to do something harsh too. I pay good money to see a movie, I don't want to hear someone yapping through it. I wouldn't actually shoot anyone, but it would be nice if people practiced common courtesy these days. But that's why I never go to theaters anymore. It's just not worth the hassle or the money.

I can't believe that someone would act in such away. To shoot someone for talking at the movie and in front of his son. I very rarely go to the movies anymore I opt to stay at home and watch them since there are so many people these days that like to talk on their phones or anything else while you are trying to watch the movie. I could never imagine doing anything more than nicely asking them to be quiet. That is why I like to just watch them at home cause if something happens to interrupt the movie you can always go back to where you left off and not have to miss any of it.

Good grief!!! That is so stupid. No movie is worth shooting someone over. My husband and I still like to go to the theaters sometimes for the really big blockbuster type movies, but most movies we watch at home. I just can't wait for the day when we can afford a large screen television to make the movies complete.

Yikes, kinda makes me glad I don't go to the movies that often. Actually I would have gotten up and moved to another seat. But to shoot someone is just crazy. Atleast he didn't kill the guy but I guess for the next few months or years he will be in jail and won't have to worry about someone talking at the movies unless they have then in jail and then he might not want to mess with anyone in there.

Yese, this is just nuts. Talkers in movie theaters are annoying and common decency to your fellow man should get you to shut up. Barring this, the management should ask such a person to leave. Failing either of these things, you should leave and get your money back rather than sit in a movie where you can't enjoy yourself.
