What Rpg is the best story and provides a balanced battle system, etc

The best rpg out there that really gave me the best story was xenogears. Well besides final fantasy and all that. The battle system was fun and allowed you to do many attackes you wanted. The game had a long story that provided me with the best story. Whats your favorite
