I know the basics but I don't consider myself a good swimmer as I hardly have any chance to practice. Sometimes, I even wonder if I still have the fundamental skills to swim in me. ^^ I don't remember swimming to be something hard to learn, but like any other skill, it requires practice. Practice makes perfect! If you regret it that much, why not look for an instructor and start learning now? Wish you'd have success in learning it someday in the future and sweep clean of this regretful thought! All the best! ^^

No I don't and I never got a chance as I have grown up in Darjeeling...I know mountaineering and horse riding instead of swimming whereas that is what I need to know the most practically as I wont be going for mountaineering or horse riding in my daily life!...I regret not knowing it and may try to learn it in the near future...Have a nice day!

Same here. I have tried to learn swimming, but because I don't have time to spare I have never learnt to swim. But I really really wished I could learn to swim. I have friends who have tried to teach me to swim but that happens only when we go out for picnic to the beach or a resort and that doesn't happen that often. But I think if I had been more determined to learn it and taken more interest to learn it then maybe I would have succeeded. If you have the interest to learn, then you have to make time for it. I am sure its not difficult. If you have a club or something nearby then maybe you should join it. Its never too late to learn.

i dont know swimming but i can try my best to come out of water if i fall down in water anywhere... you know what i think its a good thing that we dont know swimming.. what i have observed is that people like us are safe from drowning in water.. most people learn swimming in small pools and get into big rivers and ponds and get drowned. but i always stand on the shore and dont go in coz i cant swim anyway... so i guess thats good..

You may have the same problem that I have. Actually I know how to swim. I took swimming at summer camp and went all the way through the course except for the final exam. I did not swim across the pool. I could not. But as proof that I knew how to swim I taught several children that I babysat for the next summer and even taught my own kids when I grew up. I love the water and would love to be able to swim myself but I was never able to do it because.... I can't stand to get my face in the water.

I learnt how to swim at school. I was lucky because they would take us for lessons once a week when I was 10 years old. I loved swimming lessons and even now, I love to swim - there is something very relaxing about being submerged in the water. Swimming is also one of the best exercises you can do - it uses every muscle in the body. I would say that if you really want to swim, why not try having lessons from a professional instructor? Good luck!

It is a pity to hear that you are still trying to learn swimming. I have the different learning experience from you. When I was seven or eight years old, I started to play with other boys in the pond near my house. There were at least three or four ponds in the village. Also there were some trees in the ponds. I remember some days I always stayed in water in a pond all day in summer for it was quite hot outside. I do not know how I learned to swim, but I remebered I has a full sense of achievement I firstly swam from one side to the oposite side of the pond. The swimming style was as not standard as the TV shows. But I could not get drowned. I got fed up with swimming in the pond soon after I was experienced in swimming. SO I started to swim in the river about five hundred meters south of my home. In my hometown, flood was common in the river when it rainned heavily in summer. I often went to the river even it fooded and I liked to be adventurous. But my parents did not agree with me, I was punished severely when I returned from the river. All these things happened in my childhood. I think if you master to swim in early age and you will never forget this skill. This is my conclusion. First of all, you have to be interested in it and you can swim with your firends. secondly, you should take some time to learn it . I think you can be a very good swimmer if you like it. Anyway , Good luck to you and enjoy your learning experience.

I like swimming too and couple years ago i tried to learn it under the guidance of my boyfriend, we go to a swimming pool and i use a life buoy at first, after the help and instruction from bf, i tried to swim by myself alone, but everytime i just hold my head out of the water in order to breath and it's very hard to avoid doing it, so I never learned how to swim, and a regret too.

i don't know how to swim as well and i kind of regret it now... especially when i see other people can swim like a fish... i just have a phobia of water and i never like to be inside water for fear that i might get drowned... that's why i don't know how to swim even though i try to learn it when i was still a child... take care and have a nice day...

I know swimming, I learned a long time before. Many says swimming is the best exercise involving all the body parts movement. I like swimming but I have hardly time for same.

Oh Do not get me started on swimming!! It was my mother's dreams to teach me swimming when i was a kid!! well i was in a 'stubborn' stage then and i didnt like being forced to do stuff that i didnt wanna do. Anyways my mom won the argument and dragged me to the swimming coach who tried her level best to teach me. Being the arrogant brute, that i was, she soon got fed up and threw me(yes threw me!!) into the deepest part of the pool... i nearly drowned... my weight dragged me to the bottom of the pool, i hit my teeth and then i surfaced to the top.. so thanks to me arroagance, i ended up with a broken front tooth... so my experience with swimming is not so good.. :(
