Are you hesitant to say you believe in God because you fear people will laugh?

In forums, we seldom read about any reference to God. In some places, they're even deleting the word "in God we trust" in their bills. In schools, they also voted that opening prayers should not be said. Do you believe that God exists and that whatevwe we call him, or whatever religion we belong to, we refer to the same supernatural being? or are you just to fearful that people will think you mad when you say that "I lift my life to God?" .Sometimes I'm guilty of this, I don't say I trust God absolutely with my life. (Of course , I'll have to do something about it) But I feel secure in the knowledge that God would always be there for me. What about you? What is your take on this?

no, i will never deny that i believe in the existence of my God. for me, it is just right that morning prayers (or any prayer for that matter) before starting a class should not be done. it is tantamount to imposing one sect's practice of saying prayers which is unacceptable to others of different religious beliefs. one's faith is something which we do in our daily lives. they are not just simply utterred with moving mouths.

Hi Jenaisle, If that were so, then myLot must be an exception.:) I've been in several discussions on religion around here, some of which get pretty heated at times. I've not found this to be the case here at all. You get all sides of the religious arguments on this forum, i.e. the anti-, the pro-, and those with no religion. My take on it is this: as it's a forum, and everyone has got both the right and an opportunity to state their belief (or lack thereof), do so. If you can do it without being obnoxious to others, so much the better.

hi! you are right variation of faith and belief is a crucial topic to discuss and it is present here in mylot. however regardless of the faith and belief everyone, i want to put stress on the word EVERYONE should be respectful of ones point of view. i believe that there is a passive way of arguement. arguement but not quarelling or should i say with respect. i am not afraid to tell the world about my faith in God. why i should be afraid i believe in God and that is a fact. i should afraid if i am telling lies. if other do not believe in God then they should respect my faith the same way that i am respecting their belief. nice discussion! happy new year.

I'm not hesitant as I'm more of an Athiest than anything, but I do like a few aspects of various religions but have not found one that in my heart I can truly believe in. Most religions create more questions for me than answers.... I do not put people down by the faith that they have chosen. I just wish others could understand why I question their beliefs and why I am not ready to put all my eggs into one basket. I like the idea of the seperation of church and state. As IMO there is no right or wrong religion and one cannot promote one faith over another, depite it's prevalance or not within the country or community as a whole.

I believe in God and I am not scared to say or accept it..We have regular prayers in our home thanks to my Grandma..If I believe in God and if somebody laughs at it then obviously he is not a decent person and is not important enough to be bothered with it cause I will never laugh at someone who doesn't believe in God..Our beliefs are our personal choices and somebody who laughs at it shouldn't be able to shame us and make us not accept it publicly...have a nice day!

I believe that God does exist and if people laugh then I do not care because I am professing my faith in God! God will save all of us who believe in him and are not afraid to admit it. Because if I recall correctly did not Jesus say that I will not be afraid to tell my Father about you if you are not afraid to tell people about me? So why should we all be ashamed if Jesus promises that he will tell his Father about us. I will shout from the hilltops that God is good, and Jesus is Lord! So God is around and I am not afraid to admit it even to my friends.

If someone asks if I beleive in God I will yes. I have no fear of them laughing at me but get nervous when they say something like "well why is there so much pain in the world etc?" because I do not really know what to say to that. All I know is that I beleive in God for my own reasons and just because I am religious and a beleiver does not mean that I have all the answers.

Hello Jenaisle, I do not hesitate to let others know that i believe in God. I entrust my life to Him and no one else. How would we feel if God would hesitate to send His only Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for us? We should always share God to others in every opportunity that we have no matter we will receive smirking or a laugh at them. Hope this helps.

You know something? I can't recall ever denying the fact that I believe in God / A Higher Power. As a matter of fact I don't see how anyone can deny that there is something out there greater than us all. There have been times in my life that I have been down, with my back against a wall and felt that I had no where to go... no end in sight for the problem that I was dealing with. But, someone always opened a door for me or sent me a solution. And no, this someone was not a mortal man because no one else even knew I was having problems. So; in answer to your question, NOPE- I don't deny him, his power, his glory or even think that this game we call life could exist without "his will, being done"

I'm not a Christian, nor am I any true follower of any organized religion eventhough I attend some of their functions now and then. However, I do believe that there is a God-like existence in the world, I don't bother how he looks like or whether if he is a wise old man or a mischievious child (who like to play gmaes with my fate) or maybe he doesn't even take any true form, I just believe that, there must be something God-like about this wonderful world. Believing in "God" (or whatever I should call it), lets me feel safe and secured as well. The believe itself comforts me that there is something in control of everything (not in total control, but know what to do about everything and anything that happens). Else, the world would just feel too crazy and weird for my mind to live in peace. I don't hesitant to believe or let others know I believe in "God" or anything else that I think I should believe in. ^^

I do believe in God. I am a christian and I am not ashamed of letting them know that I believe in him even though I havent seen him. I am from Phils., and Christianism is the major religion here. I love to hear if people would believe in him no matter what their religion is. It isnt about seeing is believing, but the trust, faith and love is the key.

My believe on the God is just like you - I am rather confused. I am not sure if he exists or not. But what I have learned from my father, who has a great follower of the almighty, He is there to protect us. It comforts me a lot. I know if anything goes wrong, He will be there to save me.

Hello there, I am not afraid to talk about God. I mean, I am catholic and in the place I live, it is allowed to talk about him and I trust in him. It is just that I don't make God as my topic in forums or other site since it creates conflict of beliefs. Happy New Year! And Happy Mylotting! Cheers!

I do believe in God. And I don't care if others will laugh at me. It's something that I treasured and no one can take it away from me. It's just sad that some people don't really believe that there is God. But I do respect their beliefs. And i don't ridicule them at all.

I definitely believe God existed..People who tend to doubt it, is the indication she/he dont know GOD very well.. try to ponder youself where you came from and try to open up your heart so that you will know theres God..God lives in everyone's heart.. i never ever fear others to make laugh when they will see me praising God.. its sad to say there are people who did celebrate christmas but dont even know why they have celebration..To other religion, I think you also believe God in different aspect or images..The schools who were not voted to say the opening or any prayer are those who are not Christian or Catholic Schools.. I am here because God existed, my parents are just the instruments to take care of me.
