To be happy, a status or an attitude?

I learn from a friend that anybody can be happy. It is not be a status but an attitude. When turning up the curtain and see the sun shining, you say how nice the weather is. If it is cloudy or rainy, you can say my life is ok. For people who are brought up in difficulty, optimism is their only resort. They tend to go ahead as things occur, as the saying goes, "The boat goes straight when the river bank is touched." Up here, some people who were laid off have become self owners, some now in prosper. Earthquake victims were contented though still staying in tent. After years of departure, farmer workers managed reunion with wives, their kids admitted to urban schools. The ex-luxuries are coming true, though the way is long long ahead. But they keep happy, that is something we can learn from. Self confidence helps in confronting challenges. With confidence, we might be better clear minded in selecting among alternatives to find the way out, no matter struck by economy, annoyed in marriage, in despair of career.

Yes, I agree with you that happiness is most of the time your attitude towards things. In other words it is a state of mind, the mind usually dictates on how to feel towards things that are happening around you. Confronted by trials and tribulations in life, if your mind can see the positive side of it then for sure you will know how to deal with it. These so called trials in our life if managed gracefully will make us stronger people. When one day as time keeps moving and we will meet the same trial again, we will become wiser and learn to laugh at such thing because we have been through it. There are some people who think our status in life affects our happiness but I really don't think so because rich or poor we all have the same fair share of problems. However we may react all comes from our mind. Which would you prefer to be rich but your treasure is coupled with some sickness or you are poor but healthy enough to do anything you want to do? There will always be hope that things will become better no matter what your status in life is. All we need to do is just work hard and look at the bright side of life. Success is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration. Have a good one.;-)

To say person feel happy or unhappy, i think it is highly depended on what you think, what is happiness like in your mind, with the basic needs fulfilled, it is easy to feel happy with sth like a new dress, an increase on salary, so learn how to appreciate life.

An attitude. Lately I have been thing about this. "To be Happy" is a persons attitude. I should have many reasons to be upset and angry, and feel `unhappy`, but I am not. I am happy when I make a cup of my favorite cacao drink. Yesterday I imagined that I am very rich and that I live in a huge beautiful house somewhere in the Southern part of Europe: believe it or not, IT BRIGHTENED MY DAY and I really felt like a rich woman, although I dont have nothing like that! It is an attitude. You can complain about You low salary or You can be greatfull for being able to work and for having a job!!

Hello, zhuhuifen. Being happy is certainly an attitude. There is no eternal happiness, when the individual is always happy, since happiness only lasts for a short time... Unless you practice the attitude constantly. There are people who have nothing and are still happy. There are people who own everything and are sad. Happiness is not related to your financial gains, wealth, health, love life. Happiness is something that happens between you and yourself. When you are happy with what you have won in life already, but you still fight for bigger goals. When you can see the sun between the clouds in your life. Happiness. The hardest attitude, I guess. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

I think that happiness is definitely an attitude! I'm happy or I consider myself to be happy as I constantly give thanks on a daily basis for everything I have in my life. I think that being grateful is an important factor when considering happiness! The sun definitely makes me happy too although there isn't too much of that! I'm hoping that 2009 will be a happy one for me. Have a great one yourself. Andrew

Personally, I think happiness is an attitude that everyone can develop to make their life happier. Happiness is a choice we can actively make. By that, I mean that we can choose to let things make us unhappy, or we can choose to try and find the good in things. Like the saying goes: behind every dark cloud is a silver lining...we just have to look for it. If we choose to let the negatives in life get to us, it only leads to depression. I have many different medical conditions, I could choose to let my mind focus on the negative, but I choose to focus on happiness and all the good & wonderful things that I DO have in my life. Choosing to be happy gives us confidence to believe that things will get better. So, in that way, I believe happiness is a choice.

to me it is neither an attitude nor a state but an awareness that everything cannot go smoothly everytime and that there is always tomorrow. Also there are millions the world over who are less lucky than me and for whom survival itself is a challenge. At least I am far better off than them and I am thankful for my luck and happiness. I don’t want to unnecessarily dwell on things which I could not achieve and thus make myself unhappy.

"Attitude" and I'm all for it! To be happy is all about your attitude...attitude towards life, attitude towards work, and attitude towards people and actually attitude towards everything! I personally feel there is no one in this world who might not have a reason to be unhappy, but I'm positive that one can find more reasons to be happy. A beatiful morning, A lovely rose, A cool rock song and yes why not a good cup of tea. I mean there are so many things which can be looked up with an attitude to make one happy and happier actually. Its very simple to me and this is what I read long ago and is stuck right there - "Every morning I wake up, I have two choices 'I'll spend my day happily' OR 'I'll spend my day unhappily'....I always choose to spend my day happily. Isn't that and attitude?
