How do you NOT know some one is living in your attic?

this family had a stranger in their attic that was stealing their things, eating their food and wearing their clothes and had no idea!! they figured their kids were making the noise!! omg how insane is that!! i think i would notice and check out the noises anyways just to be sure!! glad i dont have an attic now!

I never had an attic but didn't they have the kids altogether when there were noises it is really strange but I guess it is possible.

you would think the family would have been all together 1 time when the noises happened but then again maybe the robber only stirred around at times when everyone was busy or did a lot of stuff when they were all gone etc.. i still would have checked up on my kids though just to make sure they werent getting into anything etc

Hmm... knowing you have a shared attic, one would have put a key and lock to the door of the attic. No?
But I am not surprised if they did not know. As the attic could have been where her kids bedroom is.
At least they managed to catch the fella before he becomes bold enough to do more nasty things than stealing.
Thank goodness no one is hurt during his stay.
I am sure they will be putting up a lock to the attic door from now on!

i had never ever heard of people sharing an attic so its just bizarre they wouldnt be paranoid about it

This story is really weird. Thank God that we do nt have attics in Malta. It is insane to live with someone for a week , without realising that you have a host in your attack. he breathes, he might fart, he smells.... and nobody takes notice of him? I find it hard to believe.

I do have an attic....and for 20 years of living here no one dared to go up into it....a few years ago my daughter finally did as I was suddenly having things fall into a space that was normally empty...I think the things were falling out of the walls....one of them was part of a metal dollhouse like I had growing up in the 50's...she finally went up and the only interesting thing we found was a turtle shell? Wonder where that came from! LOL

im glad mine doesnt either.. maybe the house was always busy and they figured that one of the kids had the other kids stuff or something.. who knows

Oh gosh, I read about this one this morning. How absolutely scary is that?!! I have an attic, but I live in a single family dwelling, so it couldn't happen. My one thought after reading this story...when the landlord, or whoever, built the duplex, wouldn't you think they would have built a wall into the attic to separate those living spaces?! I've never lived in a duplex, but if I did, I think I'd insist on there being a wall to separate. How easy it'd be without a wall there for people to steal your belongings you have stored there, or, (worst case scenario) what happened to this poor family. When I read about their story, man, it just really creeped me out!
