Are you happy or sad to see 2008 coming to an end?

I think I'm more on the happy side of this question. This past year has had many ups and downs for me but, for the most part, it was not a very good year.
One very good thing that happened to me in 2008 was that I found myLot! I haven't regretted a moment of it! I'm still terribly hooked on this place. Who's with me?
But, with the recession, gas prices rising to an astronomical amount (although they did come WAY down, still, it scared us all pretty badly as they kept going up), the cost of food and other commodities rising, foreclosure rates on homes at an all-time high, unemployment figures rising, etc. etc. etc.
I'm hoping that things get better in 2009. They HAVE to get better! So many people simply can't take any more!
But, for some, I'm sure 2008 was a good year, despite all the bad things that happened in the economy. This is why I'm asking this question.
Was 2008 a good year or a bad year for you? Are you looking forward to seeing 2009 coming in or afraid of what it might bring?
Do you have any goals for 2009 that you've set BECAUSE of 2008? I know I have! If you have, would you mind sharing them?

I have mixed emotions about the New Year. I am glad in alot of ways that 2008 is going to be over for so many have been financially and emotionally crushed with all the changes, but I am kind of dreading to see what is ahead. It is just not looking so promising anytime real soon.
Healthwise, it has not been so good the end of 08 for my family but with one member having a terminal illness, it makes it harder to look ahead and look for the brighter! In that way, you wonder what 2009 will be , better or worse?!
With the presidental change too and not agreeing with some of the promises he holds for us, I am not sure that we will be moving in a better direction. I sure hope that I will be wrong in that, but it looks to me like we may have more war ahead than less, and more taxes than less, and more jobs and businesses disapperaing from the states. Sorry to sound negative, but I am not feeling so optomistic at this point!

just have a little faith...
life can be hard but at least we must try,to go through hard days.after that,everything will be fine.
i think what bother you is not who will be the president,is who you are,what you can do to survive in this crisis.for example,promoting yourself,keep exercising,and be in a happy mood...hope you like the year 2009.

2008 to me was such a blessing year to me... because I've got what i have waited for in my entire life... My life became stable and abundant. I do believe that in this year 2009 and more years to come, God will bless me more... I know He is always there for us, all I can say is just keep your faith in HIM and keep believing that miracles happen... God knows the desire of our hearts....

I think 2008 was o.k. I'm hoping that 2009 is even better. My goals are to lose a couple of pounds and get back into walking and doing the treadmill. I also want to find a lot more ways to make money by using the internet. My goal is to find enough work from the internet to make a full time salary.

hello mentalward!! happy new year...i guess if im going to summed it up of 2008 events in my life ..i could fairly say that its great!!! i mean i like what happened ...its a year that we bought a new house or i mean build one...my son got finally a job that year , my daughter getting married and everything plus a good vacation in vacation..what can i ask for? and i hope that this year 2009..will be as fruitful as last year..

I was in a lot of stress when the news about recession came up around fall
I have less stress now because I decided to accept it as it is and ready to give up whatever I have in order to survive, including my small business that is a dream come true to me
I have given my best and I will still do that so come what may
no new resolution for next year I just carry on the 2008 resolution that only made it halfway due to the failing economy
pretty much paying off as much debt as I can and eat no meat aside from seafood, or at least lesser than before

I was very happy to see 2008 come to an end, it started off OK ish but then went sour half way through and just slowly went awful. Not in a really bad way but on a personal level for me and then for members of my hubbys family it turned into a crap year. I also gave up smoking on 27th december so that has just been a nightmare too, I hope 2009 will be better I do have goals but they are goals that I am not sharing with anyone for the time being just some personal things that I am hoping to reach.

I'm both happy and sad to see 2008 come to an end. Although it has been a great year for me I always look forward to the future because you never really know for sure what's in store. I'm looking forward to a new year and starting a fresh. I'm hoping to get some money saved up and hopefully move out of my home town this upcoming year and hopefully it will work out for me.

I guess I'm neither happy nor sad to see 2008 come to an end. I think I would say I'm content to see it go. I have no idea what is going to happen with a lot of stuff in my life in 2009. But then again, I've overcome so many obstacles this year, that maybe have prepared me for 2009. So I'm optimistic.

I am grateful for 2008 because I'm still here and health wise this has been a very difficult year. I am so with you on everything else I am hooked kine hook and sinker on myLot. I was getting worried over finances as well, but I'm afraid it will soon go up again. I just think we need to make each year as best we can and be grateful for family and all that we have. Happy New Year My Friend!!!

for one i'm happy.
there is no point mulling over spilled milk. even if i had a good 2008, it's over. all i can do now is look forward to the new year and hope that it'll be an even better year!!!
and i hope that my future is as bright as the morning star.. *hee*

HAPPY NEW YEAR my friend!!! (well tomorrow anyway) 
2008 was a rough year for me. Can't say it was a bad year...but it definitely wasn't really nice!!! I, like you, discovered myLot which made it ALL worthwhile. myLot gave me a way to escape the realities of 2008. With all the changes, I'm praying that 2009 will be a new & exciting year!!! I have a lot of hope that we will be in much better shape by the end of 2009. I make NO resolutions as I only break them & then feel guilty. To STOP my guilt, I make NO resolutions but try to WORK ON my attitude to make my changes!!!

I'm happy to see 2008 going. It wasn't a good year for me i'm just hoping that 2009 will bring me better luck then 2008.

i am in fact happy that 2008 is coming to an end. there was just so many bad things that happened to me this 2008. monsters called Grief, sickness, financial problems, name it, this could really be the worst year yet. but then, there were also good times but was overshadowed by the bad.
I am hopeful to get a better year by 2009, but still, i can't help but worry that things might get worse than 2008.
I want to remain hopeful and positive for the coming new year.

Well, I am not really sad to see 2008 coming to an end. Not that I did not have a good year but I would like to look forward to a good 2009. There were a lot of things that happened to me in 2008 that made me a better person (I hope) and part of the results would be proven in 2009. That makes me excited about 2009. Anyway, I wish you all the best this coming year mentalward!

The only thing good about 2008 has been mylot and all my mylot friends. I made very many friends here on mylot this year and am very happy about it. Otherwise the year has been very bad here in our country...mostly because of the terrorists. Hope we have more peace in 2009.

Hey mentalward! I am glad to see 2008 end, but very afraid
to see what will happen in 2009! I am afraid that things might
get worse! I have some health problems to deal with that are
scaring me and I am praying that I will be ok. I am afraid
about my fianances. I am hoping that my disability comes through.
There are so many things that could go wrong that I am praying
won't! So as much as I am glad 2008 is ending, I am scared for
2009 to begin! I am so trying to look on the bright side, but
it is going to be a difficult task. So I will ask for prayers
from everyone because I am facing some difficult times in
the beginning of the year. But, one thing I also am glad that
I found mylot this year! It has opened up a whole new world for
me. I have made so many wonderful friends and I think that this
was one of the best things that happened to me in 2008!

For me, 2008 is both happy and sad, maybe sad is more. This year I changed my job to another city, for this reason, my girlfriend and me are now in different cities, it's hard for us to meet together, I miss her very much. The job is the same as the former one, I think it's worse than the former one in some parts. Because of the economy crisis, I don't think I would change my job again in the future one or two years. Hope the 2009 will be better.
