One of My Most Unforgettable Moments in My Life--My Wedding Anniversary

A Happy Family - This is a photo of my family, taken on February 7th, 2008, during our Spring Festival. It is taken in the city of Ganzhou, my hometown. The background you see in the photo is a street close to the old Song Dynasty Wall, which is close to the river, Ganjiang River. This part of the section is a relaxing one for people to enjoy themselves. Close to the wall are some pavilions.

Hello my dear fellow mylotters, It is my seventeenth wedding anniversary today, December 31st, worth my memory as always. Seventeen years ago, my wife and I had our wedding ceremony in one of the biggest state-owned restaurants in the city of Ganzhou, which is my hometown. There were lots of our friends, relatives and neighbors attending our grand wedding dinner with my elder brother and elder sister toasting around together with us from table to table. My brother also helped take a lot of photos for us, but I am sorry that I did not have a digital camera back then and do not have those old photos in the computer. Otherwise I can have one uploaded here. After the wedding dinner in the evening, we were arranged by my elder brother to attend a dancing party in Gan Nan Guesthouse, also a large state-owned hotel as well as a first-class hotel in the city. We had a lot of fun at the party, dancing together till after ten in the evening. Then we got home. I will never forget that day when I finally finished my single life with the establishment of my own family. I felt so excited and happy then, a feeling never-to-be forgotten. We have been living together happily though simply. I love my wife as much as my wife loves me. I appreciate my wife a lot for her great contributions to the family. Today I put down one of my most unforgettable moments in my early stage of life, when I was young, as a way to show my great gratitude to my loved wife, a nice gift to her. So what is one of your most unforgettable moments in your life, please, my dear friends? Thank you in advance for your time and nice response to my discussion. Happy New Year to you all, friends. Love from williamjisir

I am sorry for the belated greetings friend..Actually I was offline for about 10 days and so missed out this important discussion.Actually I would have liked to be one of the first persons to congratulate you........sigh...... So you got married in the last day of December...I wonder why you chose that date and not wait till the dawn of the new year before tying the knot????..Do you look at auspicious dates before fixing your wedding date??I am just curious that's all.... So HAPPY ANNIVERSARY ONES AGAIN W.J.S.........

Happy New Year to you, my dear Rose friend. I am so glad that you have finally been in this very important discussion of mine, in your word. (Smiling to you. Thank you so much.) You are right that it is due to the auspicious dates that my parents chose for us that we had our wedding day on December 31, 1991. I cannot remember exactly the reason why, but back to then it seems that 92 was not a good year for marriage in our culture saying that it was a widow year so far as I can remember. That seems to be why. Anyway, I am so happy to have read your response here eventually. So

Hi W.J.S....ah..ha..this time I caught your response at the right time.............Well yes its a very important discussion to me because it marks an important landmark in the life of a very good friend of mine.... Well I dont exaclty blame your parents for not waiting for the new year before holding the wedding ceremony.they must have gotten fed up of seeing the bachelorhood of their darling son,and decided that he should tie the knot on the last day of the year so that he could welcome the New Year along with his life partner holding hands......Wow you are lucky W.J.S......

Congratulations on your 17th wedding anniversary. I wish you many many more. My happiest moments in my life was the birth of my children. Each one holds a fond memory. Even though they are grown and have lives of their own, they will always be my babies. I just wish they could always be little. Life was simpler then.

Happy New Year to my dear ElusiveButterfly, Quoted: "Even though they are grown and have lives of their own, they will always be my babies." It is well said that we are always babies of our parents however old we are. The birth of my children is also one of my most exciting and unforgettable moments that will never be erased from my memory. I wish you all the best in the new year, dear friend.

Happy New Year, dear LittleMel. It is true that everyone wants their wedding to be perfect. Well, I have to say that both my parents, siblings and my parents-in-law were very helpful back to those days before and after my marriage. I am very thankful to them as always. Even now they are still helping me a lot. Enjoy every moment in 2009.

Hi William, Thanks for your nice sharing and I am honored with your perfect synecdoche in your "My Wedding Anniversary" story as well as your high grade raconteur. Am very happy with my last minute rendering my deep love to my late wife twelve years ago. Not happy living as single parent after that, is different story. But to relate with your discussion about "Unforgettable Moment" - I've done my best to the utmost level taking care of her while she was negotiating with her chronic illness in the hospital. Feeling I'd done no less and proud being a lovely husband to her in the period of our entire marriage life. The real happiness in sadness, the silver lining after the dark cloud.

Hello William, Again I must thank you so much in a very nostalgic manner, sincerely. You want to know why?. You reminds me about the Year of Cow(Ox) 2009. Your words for that, really pushed my mind to be in my retro life a while for my year of birth - 1961. My birth year really endorsed in Zodiac Calender; 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997. Hopefully, it real sounds good may takes me into reality. Thanks, William. * post script * (copied and pasted - start) People born in the Year of the Ox are patient, speak little, and inspire confidence in others. They tend, however, to be eccentric, and bigoted, and they anger easily. They have fierce tempers and although they speak little, when they do they are quite eloquent. Ox people are mentally and physically alert. Generally easy-going, they can be remarkably stubborn, and they hate to fail or be opposed. They are most compatible with Snake, Rooster, and Rat people. Oh wow!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY my friend. What a good memories. I have lots of unforgettable moments in my life. One is when I traveled alone from my country coming to the US. My first time to go overseas with no experience in a foreign country. i can't forget when I almost cry in Los Angeles airport because I don't know where to check in for my next flight and the airport is very big. Good I was able to manage before my time of my plane's departure. Well, worth remembering that i made it though.

Happy New Year, dear Bebs. I can see how hard it is to travel alone to a new and strange place, especially to a foreign country overseas. I am glad to know that you made it through. Yeah, it is really a moment that is unforgettable. Blessed be, friend.

Hello my dear friend, firstly I want to take this opportunity to wish you a very happy, healthy 2009 and a happy 17th wedding anniversary, your wife is a lucky lady I think! Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience, that truly makes life worth living doesn't it? My unforgotten moment probably doesn't sound so great compared to yours but to me it was a wonderful experience, the day I moved into my new flat and got my much needed independence, you see my friend I prefer to live on my own, I am a free spirit, need my own space and my own privacy, so when I moved out at 27 It was a new start for me, being able to have a place I could call my own, come and go as I pleased and be who I wanted to be without permission. Sadly it was only temporary but it is one of the best experiences of my life and I hope one day I will be able to repeat it and get another place to myself.

Happy New Year, my dear wolfie. It is now 8:26a.m. January 1st, 2009. It is a fine day today. I am very happy to start with the first thing that I do this morning by reading and responding to your first response to my discussion. It is a wonderful thing to have a flat or an apartment of his own for his freedom and space. In fact, I left my parents' house at twenty after I graduated from college. I lived in a room in the school where I used to teach. But when I went home for the summer and winter vacation, I still had to live with them and I still enjoyed it living together with my parents in their house. It was a few years after I go married that I could possess my own apartment with the ownership because I bought a new one. It is a very good feeling to have a house of his own. I wish my you to get another place to yourself soon for the good feeling. Enjoy every moment of your life in the new year, wolfie.

You are very much welcome my dear friend. I really enjoy reading your lengthy and attractive description about your grand and sweet wedding 17 years back as well as willing to share with us the photos taken at your hometown during the spring festival two years back. Really, there are lots of unforgettable remembrances happen in our daily life. So I could hardly pick one to share with you here in a hurry. There are several local Chinese associations in my place are going to celebrate the Lantern Festival tonight by hanging lots of lantern riddles on the lines in front of the buildings in the evening, so that everyone passing by would have the chance to guess the riddles. Prizes would be rewarded to those who have solved the riddles and the one who has got the majority of correct answers will get the champion prize. Besides, there will be performance of lion dance and fireworks setting off to celebrate busy and cheerful festival. Wishing you a happy Lantern Festival Night.

It is the same with the local Zhebei Mansion, which celebrates the Lantern Festival tonight by hanging lots of lantern riddles on the lines in front of the building as well, but not in the evening. It is during the morning hours outside the big mall, Zhebei Mansion, a big chain supermarket. Some of my colleagues together with their kids went to guess the riddles and won small prizes like environmental-friendly bags for shopping. They got nine such bags and gave me two. I like them, which can hold many things. Take care, friend.

I'm so glad you and your wife have reached your 17th anniversary, more in love than ever. My parents will celebrate their 34th year of marriage in August 2009. They are more in love today than they were when they were married. I think you have the same thing. Your wife is very blessed to have such a wonderful man to be with. I admire you for your truth and honesty.

Happy New Year, dear AmbiePam. I thank you so much for your nice comment to me. I am so happy to know that your parents will celebrate their thirty-fourth wedding anniversary in August 2009. I wish them all the best as well as you in the prosperous new year. Bless you all. Speaking of your parents' year of marriage, it reminds me of my own parents, who got married in 1954. So far, they have been married for 54 years. My mother is a very nice one, taking good care of us three siblings while my father used to work outside home, making money to support the family. My father got retired before he was sixty and has been enjoying his retired life ever since together with my mother... Take care, my dear friend.

Perhaps it sounds late, but I wish you had a wonderful wedding anniversary. It's nice that next day it's the New Year. You can have two important issues to celebrate:) I think the most unforgettable moment in my life was the moment when my baby was born. I had an operation at that time and I had to say that I didn't feel quite well at that time. When I heard my baby's first crying and the nurse held him to me, I felt so moved and my tears couldn't help dropping. I cried not because I had an operation and felt bad. I was just so glad and moved because he was my baby. And I became to a mom. I love China

Hello williamjisir, Congratulation on your 17th anniversary and for sharing the unforgettable moments of your life. This turned me back 12 years when I got married. One thing i must admit, though you did not have digital camera then to upload photos, you have a memory sharper and better than a digital camera. From your vivid description I could almost visualize everything and share your excitement. In our place, marriage ceremony takes place differently. The groom comes to the house of bride to marry. Now it is commonplace, specially in urban areas, to hire marriage halls for the ceremony, but earlier it was not so. And there are many religious rituals to be performed. Reception of guests is the same while drinks and dancing is not. It is very good to learn that you love your wife so much when so much. I too love my wife and she does a lot for the family. Actually, I think, the house is comfortable place for her presence. Hope your love lasts longer and become stronger day by day.. Happy new year
