kids and chores

I always seem to have problems to get my kids motivated for getting their household chores done. My kids are like most they know they have to do it but they want to throw a fit because they have to do it. Well while cleaning out my desk drawer I found some old checks for an account that was closed. And I got this idea. I assign them a chore. When it is completed to my liking they will get a check for something they want. My kids is mostly computer time. I asked them if they would like to do this this way as one I never have spare cash to do an allowance and two it is for something they like. We tried this and so far it is working well. The two younger ones got their chores done in a heart beat and they did it the right way! Why didn't I think of this before! LOL

Hey that is a great idea for the children to gain more momentum and also they gain a little more incentive to want to help you around the house. What more could you ask for?! I have a five year old son that helps me with small things right now however he is not quite old enough to function where chores are concerned. I applaud you for doing what works!

Thank you for giving me best response. I still agree that it is good incentive for the children to help out a little if they can.

rest assure you are not a lone many kids don,t want to do what they need to do.some time you can make it a game to help then to clean like see who can clean there room the fastest and offer a gift after you check their rooms.make it interesting for them espeacially if they want to do things are go outside to play tell them they can,t do it unless there rooms are clean and you have to check it first.but don,t make a habit of giving them things they live there too and they have to clean where they live no m atter what.

That sounds like a good idea. I don't know if that would work on my son or not. He is not too bad about helping around the house most of the time, but he has his days when he does not want to do anything too.

That is such a good idea. It is always nice when you can find a good way of dealing with kids to get them to do something where it benifits you both. Good luck with it and I hope it really helps you out.
