hi elghrasya...people want to make a big loud noise. when my mom was a kid they'd go out on the porch and hit pans with a wooden spoon. at sports events people yell and holler for their team. people like to make noise when they celebrate. if you won a million dollars would you whoop and holler? well fire works does it louder and has great bursts of color. people are excited about starting a new year with a clean slate so to speak. they're excited about new beginnings and they really want to celebrate BIG.

hehe you know it's obviously not for you. it's okay you don't have to be loud. some people just have to. now myself i'm just watching it on tv. i don't want to get out in 1 degree weather at times square to watch the ball drop. people like what they like. some people like strawberries and someone else asks why. they just like strawberries. you can celebrate quietly or not at all. it's all up to you. but clearly a lot of people love to make noise. i don't really like noise myself. but fireworks are pretty on tv. now the times square ball dropping is just a beautiful ball of light. no noise apart from the cheering crowd.
