Good games for babies

I'm worried that I don't spend enough "active" time with my boys. They are 13 months, so they are cute and fun, but ... I just don't know what to do with them. I'm used doing things that are still a little beyond them, like 'playing pretend' soldiers, or 'real' games (like board games). I understand picka-boo and we've having them try to pick the right color blocks but well not much else. Are there any other little 'games' that I could play with them at this age? Or should I just stick to talking to them and cuddling them until they learn more?

My son loves playing Pat-a-cake. It is so cute when he is clapping his little hands. He also loves playing ball. He will try to roll the ball back and forth to me. Sometimes it is hard to find the right games to play with little ones but I hope this helps.

Today at their grandmothers they were much more receptive to returning a ball! They seem to want to push it, but sometimes end up keeping it because their hands pull back giving it spin. (Hands face down, pull hands down, ball moves forward while being pushed, but then rolls back when released) It was very cute, at least they have the idea! I seem to have lost much of my own creativity for playing with toys, or maybe I just can't figure out how to dumb it down. So I do things like make the animal noise and march it around, but they ignore me and try to take it. And of course once they have it, it's boring, hahaha. one of them can clap pretty good now, and it is super cute! I need to learn the whole pat-a-cake song. I have an issue with certain mechanical and electric toys that move on their own, but that's a whole other discussion. Thanks everybody! It appreciate the help! Let me know if you think of anything else, of course.

With our 5 1/2 month old i feel the same way. I can't remember the things we did with our 2 1/2 year old when she was that age. I think all the above suggestions are good ones. Try pat-a-cake games. My youngest likes rattles and things she can chew on. My oldest likes to roll the balls around thr house, not neccessarily to anyone. She also loves the thick board books that she can "read" by herself. I don't really know what to tell you since I personally know them. They seem very happy, but it is hard to tell with them if they are truly interested in what you're doing. They seemed to like watching me put megabloks together at my house but they didn't seem to have interest in doing it themselves. Maybe try a different kind of blocks. They are in between my 2 so I don't remember how to interact with that age. Interactive toys, things that crawl or walk seemed to get their attention when they visited us. Ride on toys, maybe. Just lay on the floor and be a mountain for them to climb on, piggy back rides, sing to them............

They both like to dance, watch me dance or for me to hold them while dancing also.

How about building blocks/ yous could stack them on top of each other and see how tall they can get it. Rolling a ball back and forth to each other. definitly reading lots of books to them. Its a great age, they grow so quickly!

Sometimes I can't tell if they don't get what I'm doing or if they just don't care, but usually if I try building blocks they just take them apart and pick one to chew one, rolling the ball is kinda fun, except again they don't really send it back, they're just like, "cool a ball, thanks, see ya!" We've got a few cute books for them though. There's a series about a pidgeon, the one we have is "Don't Let the Pidgeon Stay Up Late!" It reads basically like you'd expect it to. It's funny.
