When I say national dish, I do not mean the dish that people eat daily, but the dish that your country is known for. Guyana my country Pepperpot, this is an Amerindian meat stew which uses cassareep. Cassareep is a preservative made from grated cassava and flavoured with cinnamon and brown sugar Italy national dish varies by region but Pasta tops the list Bermuda national dish is Fish Chowder

In Jamaica our national dish is ackee and saltfish at least that is the recognised dish but in fact the food that is eaten most of the times especially on sunday is rice and peas and chicken but I am getting side tracked her.Ackee is a pod that grows on trees. It is usually eaten with saltfish and forms a nice delicacy that can be eaten with rice and ground provosions (etc yams).

WOW! Good to meet a Jamican on Mylot...I am Guyanese. I have never eaten Akee and saltfish, but the Jamaican Grill Restaurant here in Bermuda sells it and I am going to get me some since you have described what it is about. Yummy
