I watched a TV programme on the other day, it was about twins. A village in a South Indian state is called as 'Twin's village' because in every house you can find twins. The village is now become famous in news. Now ten women are pregnant with twins. People are proud and much talking about the interesting habits of them. Some parents are feeling difficulty to meet the twin's demands like, wanted to sit in the same class and purchase same kind of dress etc. I felt the programme was interesting by watching different groups of similar faces. Do you have any twin sister/brother/son/daughter or atleast a friend? Please share your funny moments (if any) with them or give your general opinion about the twins.

I have twin daughters, they are going to be 18. I also have twin grandsons who will be 2. My husbands aunt has twin daughters. The interesting thing is doing research twins come from the mothers side of the family. Yet we didn't have twins for something like 80 years when I had mine and then my 3rd child had her set of twins about 16 years after mine was born. I guess we are closing the gap! LOL! Our twins did the twin talk and didn't talk to us much at all until they were about 4. Also when one got hurt, the other one would react and that was even when one was outside and the other inside not knowing what happened. That there was a little freaky! Ours is so different in personality that it isn't even funny.

Both of your comments are interesting. So it happened in real life. I have watched the same in some movies only and thought it is only a hypothecation of story writer. Thanks for sharing. Good luck to both of you.

"laughs" guess that's the deal with all twins =P hunh? Freaky or not, can be a lifesaver sometimes! When I got into an accident a few years back and got hurt pretty bad, my dad was taking my twin sister in a spin around in the car, but she suddenly felt that something really bad just happened and urged to come back where I was at, only to discover I've been in an accident =P there were other times when something like this happened too, cuz I always get myself in trouble, lol! but she doesn't so I don't really know if I'd feel it too if something happens to her O.o hope I don't discover that :P

One of my cousins have twin sons and they both look alike. One of my better half's cousins have twin daughters and they also look exactly similar. Whenever I visit their place, I find it difficult to distinguish between the two girls. However, both perform differently in their classes. Incidently, I do not have twin brother/sister. Those who are twins can throw more light on your discussion.

I am not a twin but I do know or have known plenty of twins and a couple of triplets too. My sister is married to a twin but his twin lives in Canada so I haven't yet met them. I know a pair of identical twins. One time my mum saw one of them and thought it was one but it was the other one. One of my friends had a two year old daughter when her premature twin girls were born. She was on holiday at the time and the ambulance had trouble getting through to the little cottage by the sea. The twins had to go in incubators in different hospitals. They look the same height but the faces are different. One of my friends has twin boys and then had has just had another set of twin boys. I once taught some twin girls and one had blond hair and the other had ginger hair. The triplet boys I taught were different to each other in appearance and temperament. For parents evening I had to book them a half hour slot. The other triplets I taught were a boy and two girls that looked identical. I had such difficulty telling them apart. The were more alike each other than any other twins I know or have known. I would have liked to see the program about the village in India where so man twins are found.

I have twin grand children a boy and a girl luckily they are not mistaken with their identity.I'm happy to see them caring for each other. One does not eat if the other twin is not eating. They sleep together and almost every activity they are just like one.I have one odd expirience with a triplet friends. They are 3 girls and I had a hard time differentiating one from the other especially when they wear the same clothes and the same lengt of hair.

Hello Sreekala! I don't have a twin sister or brothers who are twins but I have a cousin who are twins. The exactly look alike but they have totally different attitudes. They are always fighting actually. But one thing they have in common aside from having the same face, they were both got infatuated with the same guy. Isn't that funny?

I think there's a village in Kerala with a whole lot of twins. I don't have a twin sibling but I know quite a few twins. There have been some in my family as well as that of my husband's family. I also see a lot of twins at the school I teach...I think that has a lot to do with IVF unlike the case in the village where it is all natural. When my older son was in kindergarten, there were 6 sets of twins that year!! One of my colleagues is an identical twin and we also have family friends whose daughters are identical twins. My uncles were identical twins (lost one). My husbands first cousins are fraternal twins. My uncle is married to an identical twin. When I was in college I had a very good friend who was actually an identical twin. Both the boys were in the same college...but I wasn't aware of that (since I came from another state). I was very friendly with one of them and had known him for a few months when one day I met his brother in the college (of course, I didn't know it was his brother). I smiled broadly at him and went across to speak to him. I blabbered on like my usual self and this fellow kept blinking at me. I walked away wondering what had happened to this very friendly guy and made a note to ask him the next time I met him. It was only when I found the seniors laughing at me and asked them the reason that they told me that I had got the wrong guy and this person didn't even know me (because the brothers were in different departments). And funny part is that even after knowing my friend for months...not once had he mentioned his twin brother (he assumed that I knew like everyone else in the college). Though they were identical twins...after I got to know about both of them, I could identify who was who and became friendly with the other one too.

I have identical twin daughters. They are 21 now but such a joy to raise. There was never a dull moment in the house with 3 teens at once (older daughter). I must say that I'd be rich if I had a dollar for every time someone asked me if they were twins and/or are they identical twins!!

Yes I do have a twin sister. We are not identical and she is 10 minutes older than I am. We are opposite in a lot of things but the same in some things. We had to endure a lot of abuse growing up so we have had to learn to rely on each other. We use to be closer than we are now, but she lives two states away from me so I do not see her much.

I find this discussion very near and dear to my heart. I always wanted a twin brother or sister. I am the youngest of 6 siblings. The second youngest was 11 yrs older than I was. Needless to say, I was practically home all the time playing alone as if I were an only child. I had a very vivid imagination as a child. I used to watch a lot of television and movies so the double mint commercials were a bit kick for me. After I had children and noticed that practically all of them looked so much alike, it was as if I had twins of my own. The only thing is all of their personalities are soooo different. What is really funny is how initiative they are and somehow I know when they are being dishonest and mischievous, verses being honest and sweet. The blessing of it all is knowing what to say that can bring them to an understanding of how to deal with various situations, because in a way I know exactly what they think now, only because I thought the same things at their age.

Hi hdjohnson, First of all, sorry for late reply. Today I decided to finish all my pending replies means comment back to responders, but unfortunately mylot is not working properly. From morning I felt difficulty to work and somehow I managed to open the account now but take too much time for loading. I am glad to know that you liked this discussion (at the same time feel guilty to late responding) I think you got much love from parents and elders because you have 5 elder brothers/sisters. I understand they must be busy with their studies when you were a kid. I agree if there was twin brother or sister it was really wonderful. Many thanks for sharing.

I went to school with a set of twin girls and a set of twin boys, and my neighbors have a set of twin boys that my kids play with about every day. I could not even imagine a whole town filled with twins. That is quite interesting. My best memories of the twin girls is how they would argue between themselves one minute, than be best of friends the next minute. They rarely dressed alike, but they hasd very similar interests. The twin boys I knew dressed similar all of the time, but one was into sports more and the other was into academics more. I often wondered if one would do homework for the other, and how often they wanted to just switch classes for a day, they were so identical, I doubt if the teachers would have caught them. The little boys next door are identical twins, but a lot different. One is outgoing and the other keeps more to himself. My best friend in school had a set of twin boys. She tells me that they are both very intelligent as well as athletic. She at times mistakes one for the other. I remember when they were babies, she left their ankle braclets from the hospital on until she had to take it off so she wouuldn't confuse them.

Hi Riya, Yes it is nice to have twins. But you know why some parents are against it, as a mother you can also understand the struggles of carrying twins. It may be the possible reason. If there are twins, parents need people to support for looking after the kids well. So there is fun and struggles with twins. Many thanks for participate the discussion. Have a great weekend.

I have no twin brothers or sisters but have cousins and friends. My friends are very much identical that it is very often difficult to identify them for their parents too. They were my seniors at the law college.I met one of the twins on day 1 in the college premises. She came and started teasing me.She asked me to take a lap around the college and I had no other alternative but to obey it since she had the backing of those idiot hen-pecked boys. When I reached the back side of the bulding I was amazed to see her standing there with another girl. When I returned to the startng point there she is again.I was totally confused to see the same person at two different spots.Only later, when I saw them both together, that I understood they were twins. But they became my friends later. Some three years back both of them got married to two twin brothers.Since both couples are at far away places I hope that husbands as well as the wives will not confuse each other.

I have nephews who are twins and to this day, they are 20 something, I can't tell them apart, although they are NOT identical!!While my sister carried them, she was huge. Long before they were delivered, she was hospitalized. She was gaining several pounds a night with them. Then the big....and I do mean BIG....day came, and she delivered them c-section. Those boys were 8lbs 9oz and 9 lbs!! Those at the hospital said that they believed it was a record for twins, but they had no records to show that. Today they are well over 6 feet tall, I believe either 6'3" or 6'4", and neither of their parents are very tall. Oh........one story. One twin took the test for the driver's license for the other!!

That is certainly interesting. Meeting twins are usually rare. Now seeing many twins in one village alone would be really odd. The children of that village would feel strange when they go to another village or city and find that there are hardly any twins there.

Wow does did really exist? That would be so cool. Yes i do have a twin.. a twin brother. and yes, we are fraternal. So we don't have funny experiences. But a lot of people have been asking us if we both feel the same. Like for example, when one gets fever, will the other one feel heavy too? Those types, but my answer is no. I don't know for harder cases but i haven't felt anything yet.

Hi Koala, Nice to know about your twin brother. I think the similar gender is having the identical face mostly. It related with the biological term, the same gender identical twins is from the same egg which splits and the other is from different eggs (mother is having two eggs, which rarely happens). I am not a biology student (I am commerce graduate) to explain in detail so please bear with me the brief explanation. Have a great weekend dear.
