I recently switched from AVG free edition to Avira free antivirus protection, and immediately after I switched and started a system scan the Avira found 2 viruses that AVG didnt find, and here's one of the neet things about Avira it beeps during a Internet searches when it finds a virus, it go's BEEP! and the screen pops up and tells you what type of virus it found. So anyway which is better AVG free or avira free?

I've never heard of Avira so I can't give a comparison.

Wow! I've never compared Avira, why do you think it's better? I'm really careful on the internet. I choose carefully only download from download.com, I use AVG 8, Sypbot & Lavasoft! I'm so crazy about the protection...so is Avira really better than AVG? So I switch? Ciao! Pablo

I switched from AVG free because after a while it didnt seem to work that well, and now I use avira because it found 2 viruses that AVG free missed, avira beeped right after I did my first scan and it told me that I had 2 viruses and AVG didnt find them so thats why I think avira maybe a little better for me.

I now use avira now. Its true that it is more effective in finding the virus than avg. But i think it is weak in removing them. and i felt its not that easy to use. Complicated menu and options. When it finds a virus a window will be opened with options like delete, rename, deny access etc but nothing is effective in stopping the virus.

Well usually just press delete or choose to move it to virus vault.

Use Avira. It detects more virus than AVG. Not as good as Nod32 though. but i think it will do the job. you could also try a free antivirus called avast. they have a free home edition.

Hi dear apples, I was using free version of AVG earlier. It worked just fine for a few months. But thereafter it lost its effectiveness. I switched to Avira. I am using it for last one year. I am happy with its performance. It beeps and shows the viruses or malwares. I just delete them. Happy mylotting
