It is said in indian context that daughter in law binds the family together.It is her duty to see that everything is balanced properly.Her in laws wishes are being taken care of,her husband is fully satisfied with her,her children behave properly and they are well mannered and well groomed.The relatives and relatives of relatives are happy with her.It is a great responsibilty on her shoulders to keep everyone satisfied and happy.

In the Philippines, everyone in the family has equal responsibility when it comes to promoting harmonious relantionship. It's not only the daughter in law. And I find it very effective because each one will be helping one another to achieve peace and prosperity withiin the family.
